Brito was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday with a left hamstring strain.
EDGE Analysis
Brito just returned from right thumb surgery less than two weeks ago and now he will be sidelined with a new injury. It's not clear at this point how much time he might miss. Brito has slashed .256/.357/.463 with three homers in 24 games with Columbus this season.

Triple-A Columbus activated Brito (thumb) from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Brito needed surgery in late April to repair a high-grade ligament sprain in his right thumb, but he's ready to go after playing seven rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. The 23-year-old infielder slashed .291/.406/.491 with two home runs and four steals in 16 games for Columbus before getting hurt. Brito could eventually become an option for Cleveland at second base if he plays well at Columbus.

Brito will be sidelined 8-to-12 weeks after having surgery Friday to repair a high-grade ligament sprain in his right thumb, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brito suffered the injury last week while sliding into a base at Triple-A Columbus. The 23-year-old infielder had been off to a nice start this season with Columbus, slashing .291/.406/.491 with two home runs, four steals and a 10:11 K:BB.

EDGE Analysis
Brito, who hurt the wrist while sliding, underwent X-rays which came back negative and is considered day-to-day at Triple-A Columbus. Brito is batting .291/.406/.491 with two home runs, five doubles, 10 RBI, four steals and 11 runs scored over 16 games for the Clippers.

The Guardians optioned Brito to Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old posted a .177/.222/.529 slash line with four homers over 13 games in spring training and was unable to earn a place on the Opening Day roster. Brito still has a strong chance to make his MLB debut at some point in 2025, especially if he can replicate or improve upon the .808 OPS he produced at Triple-A last year.

Brito started at second base and went 2-for-4 with with a solo home run in Tuesday's spring game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Four of Brito's six Cactus League hits have left the park, giving him a lopsided spring line of .176/.222/.529 through 13 games. He's one of a host of players competing for the open job at second base. Brito's defense and speed are mediocre, which means his power will need to carry him past those shortcomings.

Brito is just 2-for-21 at the plate this spring and could be behind Gabriel Arias in the pecking order at second base for the Guardians, Mandy Bell and Tim Stebbins of MLB.com report.
EDGE Analysis
Both of Brito's hits have been home runs, but he's also struck out at a 30.4 percent clip this spring. The 23-year-old is on the 40-man roster but has not yet made his major-league debut, and a trip back to Triple-A Columbus could be in order, at least to start the season.

Brito started at second base and went 0-for-2 in Sunday's spring game against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Brito made his Cactus League debut Sunday. The 23-year-old is one of several players that should see time at second base, a position that remains up for grabs. Gabriel Arias started Saturday's spring opener followed by Brito on Sunday. Expect to see a carousel of names in daily box scores, including prospect Travis Bazzana.

The Guardians "continue to express their extreme excitement" at getting a look at Brito at second base this spring, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joe Noga of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported in January that Brito might be a long shot to win the second base job. However, Bell has listed Brito as the starter at the keystone in her first Opening Day roster projection, though she acknowledges the answer "back and forth between Brito and Gabriel Arias all spring." The 23-year-old Brito slashed .256/.365/.443 with 21 homers and 13 steals in 2024 at Triple-A Columbus and offers the most offensive upside out out Cleveland's second-base candidates. Tyler Freeman, Daniel Schneemann and Angel Martinez are also in the mix to replaced Andres Gimenez, who was traded to the Blue Jays.
