Brubaker signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker was let go by the Yankees on Thursday after turning in a 3.38 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 16 innings with the big club. The 31-year-old righty owns a 4.63 ERA at the Triple-A level, however, so the Giants will likely look for more consistency from him in the minors before adding him to their MLB pitching staff.

The Yankees released Brubaker on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker had been booted off the 40-man roster earlier this week and is now free to seek a job elsewhere. The right-hander has collected a 3.38 ERA and 10:9 K:BB over 16 relief innings at the big-league level this season.

The Yankees designated Brubaker for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker returned to the majors this year after missing two seasons due to injury, posting a 3.38 ERA and 10:9 K:BB over 16 relief innings. Given his $1.82 million salary, it seems unlikely the right-hander will be claimed on waivers.

The Yankees are expected to designate Brubaker for assignment Tuesday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker has managed a 3.38 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Yankees, but it's come with an uninspiring 10:9 K:BB over 16 frames. The 31-year-old didn't pitch in the majors in 2023 or 2024 while recovering from multiple injuries, including Tommy John surgery. Brubaker will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.

The Yankees reinstated Brubaker (ribs) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Not only will Brubaker be making his season debut when he gets into a game, but he'll also be making his Yankees debut. After being acquired from the Pirates last March, Brubaker was limited to just a handful of rehab appearances in 2024 while he recovered from April 2023 Tommy John surgery and an oblique strain. He was fully healthy heading into spring training, but Brubaker sustained three rib fractures when he was struck by a comebacker in late February. The right-hander proved his health over a month-long rehab assignment and ended it in impressive fashion this past Friday, when he gave up one earned run on no hits and two walks in a five-inning start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Though Brubaker built up as a starter during his minor-league assignment, the Yankees are initially expected to use him in long relief.

Brubaker (ribs) rejoined the Yankees on Monday after completing his rehab assignment, and manager Aaron Boone said that the right-hander is in line for "potential activation" from the 60-day injured list, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker has yet to make his Yankees debut since being acquired from the Pirates in March 2024, as he was limited to a slew of minor-league rehab appearances last season while completing his recovery from April 2023 Tommy John surgery. The right-hander received a clean bill of health heading into spring training, but he fractured three of his ribs after being struck by a comebacker in late February and has spent the last three-plus months working his way back from the injury. Brubaker has finally reached the finish line in his recovery, and he closed out his extended rehab assignment in impressive fashion by allowing one earned run on no hits and two walks over five innings in his most recent outing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Though Brubaker has been building up as a starter during his rehab, he may be more likely to work in long relief once the Yankees activate him within the next few days.

Brubaker (ribs) struck out six batters and allowed three hits and two walks over 3.2 scoreless innings in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
EDGE Analysis
Making the fifth start of his rehab assignment and his second in a row at the Triple-A level, Brubaker built up to 67 pitches and generated five swings and misses on the day. The right-hander is being stretched out as a starter as he works his way back from the three broken ribs he sustained during spring training, but it's unclear if he'll be installed in the New York rotation once his 30-day rehab window expires and he gets activated from the 60-day injured list. Ryan Yarbrough has performed capably as the Yankees' No. 5 starter over the past month, and Marcus Stroman (knee) is also in the midst of a rehab assignment and will be in consideration for a rotation spot once healthy.

The Yankees transferred the rehab assignment of Brubaker (ribs) to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday, per MLB.com.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker made a start for the Triple-A club after being transferred Tuesday and allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters over three innings. Prior to that outing, he had yielded just one earned run across 9.2 frames with a 6:3 K:BB across three minor-league games between New York's High-A and Double-A affiliates. Brubaker hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors since 2022 due to injuries, including Tommy John surgery he underwent in April of 2023. He's out of minor-league options, so once his rehab assignment is over, the Yankees will have to either add him to the big-league roster or designate him for assignment.

Brubaker (ribs) made the second appearance of his rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Somerset, covering 2.2 innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks. He didn't strike out a batter in the outing.
EDGE Analysis
After tossing three scoreless innings in his first rehab appearance with High-A Hudson Valley on May 18, Brubaker was cleared to move up a level for his second start. Though he recorded one fewer out Friday compared to his previous outing, Brubaker pushed his pitch count up from 37 to 49. Brubaker wasn't particularly efficient, however, throwing just 26 strikes and inducing only four swings and misses. The Yankees look as though they'll let Brubaker continue to get stretched out for a starting role during his rehab assignment, but it's unclear if the big club will have a spot available for him in the rotation once he's activated from the 60-day injured list. Marcus Stroman (knee) and Gerrit Cole (lat) are further behind in their rehab programs and aren't likely to be activated until the second half of June, but Ryan Yarbrough has performed well of late as the team's No. 5 starter and may not be dislodged by Brubaker.

Brubaker (ribs) kicked off a minor-league rehab assignment with High-A Hudson Valley on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Brubaker was sharp in the first outing of his rehab stint, tossing three scoreless innings during which he allowed only one hit and struck out three batters. The veteran hurler tossed 37 pitches (23 of which were strikes) in his first mound action since he was hit by a comebacker and broke three ribs during a spring start in late February. Brubaker will likely take part in a few more minor-league outings before a potential early-June activation off the injured list.
