Staked to an early 5-0 lead, Sears hurled five solid innings but did struggle a bit with hard contact. The left-hander allowed a pair of doubles Wednesday and a solo home run to Wyatt Langford in the fourth frame, throwing a season-low 86 pitches as well. Sears still hasn't given up greater than three runs in any of his first five starts of 2025, and he'll carry 3.21 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB over 28 innings into his next scheduled outing against these same Rangers, this time in Texas.

Sears had little trouble with the White Sox on Thursday, allowing just three singles while cruising to his second victory. The 29-year-old left-hander has delivered quality starts in three of his first four outings to start the year. Sears now sports a 3.13 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP and 18:5 K:BB across 23 innings. He's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Rangers in his next start.

The southpaw needed 101 pitches (64 strikes) to record 12 outs, and Sears ran out of steam in the fifth inning, serving up leadoff hits to Juan Soto and Pete Alonso before getting the hook. it was the first time in three outings that Sears failed to deliver a quality start, and he'll take a 4.24 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 16:3 K:BB through 17 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week against the White Sox.

Sears fell behind 3-0 through three innings, but he didn't give up any runs thereafter, and an Athletics comeback helped him pick up his first win of the campaign. The southpaw has notched a quality start in each of his two outings so far this season after achieving that feat 13 times in 32 starts last year. Sears will look to keep rolling his next time on the mound, which is projected to be next week at home against the Mets.

EDGE Analysis
Sears got beat up out of the gate, allowing three consecutive batters to reach in the opening frame, which led to two runs coming across for the Yankees. He then started off the second by surrendering a leadoff homer to Anthony Volpe and was later tagged for a three-run shot in the third. It marked the second straight outing in which Sears has given up multiple home runs, and he's now allowed four or more runs in three of his last four starts. On a positive note, he did manage to get through five innings Saturday for the fifth straight outing.
