Tomlin signed a one-year, $1 million contract with Atlanta on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin spent the past two seasons in Atlanta, and he'll remain with the team for at least one more season after recording a 4.76 ERA and 36:8 K:BB over 39.2 innings during the abbreviated 2020 campaign. He worked as both a starter and reliever last year, but the 36-year-old should work primarily out of the bullpen in 2021. The deal includes a $1.25 million club option with a $250,000 buyout for 2022.

Tomlin made his most recent appearance for the Braves out of the bullpen, giving up two runs over 2.2 innings in a Sept. 16 outing in Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
The recent returns of Cole Hamels and Max Fried from the injured list appear to have at least temporarily bumped Tomlin from the rotation, as the Braves have opted to keep younger arms in Kyle Wright and Huascar Ynoa in starting roles over him. Atlanta will need to add another starter to the rotation Wednesday versus Miami, so Tomlin could be a candidate to pitch that day if he's not needed in relief Monday or Tuesday.

Tomlin allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out two over four innings in Friday's loss to the Nationals. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin was roughed up early against the Nationals as he allowed three runs in the first inning before giving up two more in the third. However, a strong offensive showing from Atlanta allowed him to settle for the no-decision. With Max Fried (back) and Cole Hamels (triceps) expected to return soon, it's unclear when Tomlin could make another start.

Tomlin (2-2) allowed one run on three hits and no walks while striking out two over six innings as he earned the win Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin had been charged with losses in each of his past two outings, but he received an extra day of rest prior to Sunday's start. He responded with his longest appearance of the season as he only allowed three baserunners over the first six innings of the contest. The right-hander now has a 3.77 ERA and 26:6 K:BB over 28.2 innings this year. His next start should be on the road Friday against the Nationals.

Tomlin will have his start pushed to Sunday against the Nationals, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander lined up to start Game 2 of Friday's twin bill, but he'll receive some extra rest with Huascar Ynoa receiving the start instead. Tomlin has struggled in his past two outings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits with six strikeouts and two walks over 7.1 innings.

Tomlin (1-2) took the loss Saturday against the Phillies after surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and one strikeout over 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander was through four frames with only one run allowed on a sacrifice fly, but he struggled during the fifth inning and was pulled after giving up a three-run homer to Rhys Hoskins. Tomlin has a 4.37 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 24:6 K:BB through 22.2 innings, and he lines up to pitch against the Nationals next weekend.

Tomlin (1-1) gave up four runs on six hits and struck out five over three innings in a loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Tomlin gave up three homers to account for all four runs in the appearance, and he needed 61 pitches (38 strikes) to complete the short outing. The 35-year-old began the year as a reliever, but has been forced into starting duties after injuries ravaged Atlanta's rotation. He has a 3.93 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 23 strikeouts across 18.1 innings this season. His next start is expected to be Saturday in a rematch in Philadelphia.

Tomlin is slated to start Sunday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Just over 40 percent of the way into their season, the Braves have just one man left standing (Max Fried) from their Opening Day rotation. As a result, Tomlin should keep picking up starts so long as his performance continues to warrant regular starts. After thriving in long relief to begin the season, Tomlin fared respectably in his first start in Tuesday's loss to Washington, working four innings (51 pitches) and giving up two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out two. He'll likely push his pitch count up to the 60-to-75 range Sunday.

Tomlin didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Nationals, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran swing man was making his first start of the season and did his part, exiting the game after 51 pitches (36 strikes) with Atlanta up 5-2. However, the bullpen quickly allowed things to deteriorate. It's not clear whether the team plans to keep Tomlin -- who has a sparkling 2.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 18:4 K:BB through 15.1 innings -- in the rotation for now or move him back into long relief in support of some younger arms, but if he does stay on schedule, he'd next take the mound Sunday, at home against the Phillies.

Tomlin will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has not logged more than 2.1 innings in any outing this season and has not logged more than 1.1 innings in an outing since Aug. 1, so this will not be a traditional start. Perhaps Huascar Ynoa or Bryse Wilson will be used as the primary pitcher behind Tomlin.
