Orioles released RHP Josh Rupe from Triple-A Norfolk. Rupe posted a 5.65 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 14 1/3 major-league innings this season, and fared even worse at Norfolk, turning in a 7.07 ERA and 1.69 WHIP in 42 frames. Just 28, Rupe still has time to turn his career around, but he's obviously going to have to show dramatic improvement at his next stop.

The Orioles expect both RHP Josh Rupe and LHP Clay Rapada to remain with the organization. Rupe has opted not to use the out clause in his contract, while Rapada, who was designated for assignment earlier this week, has elected not to become a free agent after clearing waivers.
