Donaldson was sent to have an MRI after he felt something in his calf Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
He skipped his first workout Saturday after he felt "a small tweak" in his calf while running, prompting Toronto to send him for an MRI. We won't know how serious it is until the results are back, but general manager Ross Atkins felt positive about it. Donaldson strained his calf in the Blue Jays' fourth game last year, but didn't miss any games with the injury, playing in 155 total contests and winning AL Silver Slugger for the second straight year in the process.

Donaldson "felt something" in his calf and decided to skip the first workout of spring training Saturday, Richard Griffin of The Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hopefully it's nothing too serious for Donaldson, but expect an update in due time. The three-time All-Star won the AL Silver Slugger award for the second straight season in 2016 and should remain a top pick in drafts.

Donaldson, for the second consecutive season, was named a Silver Slugger, an honor which goes to the best hitter at every position in each league.
EDGE Analysis
Donaldson earned the award by following up his MVP campaign by smacking 37 homers, notching 99 RBI and scoring 122 runs. He slashed .284/.404/.549 over 577 at-bats while racking up a career-high 109 walks in 2016. Toronto's lineup, which has been one of the best in recent years, will look much different next season, but Donaldson will still be a top pick in almost all formats.

Donaldson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo homer in Tuesday's Game 4 ALCS victory over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays spent the first 29 innings of this series either tied or playing from behind, but Donaldson finally put an end to that. According to Statcast, the slugger's first home run of the ALCS had a projected distance of 402 feet and left his bat at 99 mph. The home run snapped Indians' ace Corey Kluber's postseason scoreless streak at 15.1 innings. For Donaldson, it was his seventh extra-base hit of the postseason.

Donaldson went 3-for-5 with one RBI and scored twice in Sunday's ALDS series-clinching win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Donaldson's second run was the walk-off winner as he barely beat out the throw home after a botched double play in the bottom of the 10th inning. Through four postseason games, the third baseman is 9-for-18 (.500) with five doubles, three RBI and five runs. Donaldson, who's averaged a homer per 15 at-bats over the past two season, has yet to go deep in the 2016 playoffs.

Donaldson went 2-for-2 with two walks and a two-run homer in Tuesday's victory over Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Donaldson's first-inning smash was his 37th of the season. Unlike last year's MVP campaign, Donaldson has struggled down the stretch, hitting just .200 over 70 at-bats in September. On the bright side, the third baseman appears to making positive strides as the season comes to a close. Donaldson has notched a hit and scored a run in six of the last seven games, while also crushing three home runs during that span.

Donaldson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, a walk and two runs in Friday's 9-0 victory over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
The slugging third baseman went deep in the eighth inning off reliever Ben Heller, his second homer in the last three days. Donaldson now has hits in three straight, a sign he may be emerging from what had been a two-week-plus slump. Despite his modest stretch of success, he's enduring the worst month of the season, hitting .183 with the aforementioned pair of round-trippers and three RBI.

Donaldson went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two walks and two runs against the Angels on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Getting on base all five times makes for about as impressive a return as you can ask for after the reigning AL MVP was sidelined three games with a hip injury. Donaldson's markedly improved his plate discipline this year -- he now has 97 walks, exceeding his previous career high by more than 20. Perhaps predictably, that extra patience has come at the expense of RBI -- not to knock Donaldson's outstanding total of 92, but he hasn't driven home a run since the end of August and doesn't stand any chance of matching last season's 123.

Donaldson (hip) will serve as the designated hitter and bat second Thursday against the Angels, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca
EDGE Analysis
The reigning AL MVP will tough it out and return as the DH Thursday after missing three starts. Apparently, the hip has not responded well to treatment and it's uncertain when he may be cleared to return to the field, but clearly whatever Wednesday's MRI showed was nothing that will keep Donaldson off the field entirely down the stretch. He'll be looking to record his first hit since Sept. 3.

Donaldson (hip) will have an MRI on Wednesday, Jays broadcaster Mike Wilner reports.
EDGE Analysis
The hip injury will keep Donaldson out of the lineup Wednesday for the third straight game. His ailment has not responded to treatment as expected, which is why the MRI was deemed prudent. Donaldson is obviously miserable that he can't be out there while the Blue Jays fight to chase down the Red Sox in the AL East (they are two games back), so the fact that he hasn't returned yet speaks to the severity of the injury. Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney are the Jays' only other options at the hot corner while Donaldson is sidelined.
