Bell (oblique) could be activated as early as Wednesday, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell started taking light swings earlier in the week and progressed to running sprints and doing some fielding drills Tuesday with coaches looking on. Everything appears to have gone off without a hitch for the first baseman, as manager Clint Hurdle noted that he likely wouldn't need a minor-league rehab stint before rejoining the Pirates.

Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said Sunday that Bell (oblique) is progressing well and has resumed taking light swings, Sarah K. Spencer of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell is eligible to return from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, but with the first baseman having yet to perform a full range of baseball activities, it appears he'll require more than the minimum amount of time to recover from the left oblique strain. While Bell remains unavailable, David Freese (forearm) is expected to continue serving as the Pirates' primary first baseman.

Director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Bell (oblique) continues to improve but isn't eligible to come off the disabled list until Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Tomczyk wouldn't confirm a Tuesday return for Bell, it looks like the first baseman dodged a more serious and lengthy injury. Although he's hit a disappointing six homers, the 25-year-old has lifted his OPS 53 points (.698 to .749) since June 23.

Bell was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with a left oblique strain, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jose Osuna, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move, is starting at first base and hitting fifth against righty Jacob deGrom. Colin Moran, David Freese and Sean Rodriguez will all be options to also get starts at first base while Bell is out. Bell is hitting .266/.347/.402 with just six home runs in 404 plate appearances.

Bell (side) isn't in Saturday's starting lineup against the Mets, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell exited Friday's tilt due to left side discomfort, and the Pirates have since called up Jose Osuna from Triple-A Indianapolis, so a short stint on the disabled list may be in order. More news on the extent of Bell's injury should surface in the near future.

Bell was lifted from Friday's tilt against the Mets due to left side discomfort, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of the injury remains unknown, although he'll likely undergo further evaluation prior to Saturday's matchup. Bell will be listed as day-to-day moving forward.

Bell was lifted from Friday's tilt against the Mets after suffering an apparent injury, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bell ran slowly down the first base line on a groundout in the second inning, so Sean Rodriguez replaced him in the next frame. More news on Bell's injury is expected to surface in the near future.

Bell went 2-for-4 and delivered his first home run in 85 plate appearances against the Indians on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Power is the last missing piece of Bell's game, as the first baseman has hit .347/.435/.500 in 118 at-bats since June 10. The homer was just his second since May and sixth on the year. He hit 26 long balls in 2017, so it's reasonable to expect the 25-year-old to pick up the pace before season's end.

Bell went 4-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
The first baseman has endured a rough sophomore campaign so far, slashing only .267/.350/.407 with five homers in 98 games, but he's at least started to string together some hits -- Bell's posted a .355 batting average (22-for-62) over his last 19 games. If he can also re-discover the power stroke that allowed him to slug 26 homers last year, the 25-year-old could put together a big stretch run for a Pirates squad still in the wild-card race.

Bell is not starting Monday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Bell was tried at leadoff for the Pirates' last three games but went just 2-for-13. He'll sit Monday with David Freese starting at first base.
