Jose Tabata (quad) began working out this weekend at the Pirates' spring training complex. Tabata is hoping to begin playing in games with Single-A Bradenton early this week. The dynamic outfielder has been on the disabled list since late June with a strained left quad. He's shooting for a mid-July return.

Jose Tabata (quad) expects to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Bradenton at the beginning of next week. General manager Neal Huntington, though, said it hasn't even been decided whether Tabata will go out on a rehab assignment or not. Either way, he's been taking swings and doing some light running lately and seems likely to be ready shortly after the All-Star break.

Jose Tabata (quad) jogged, threw and hit balls in a batting cage Sunday and had no issues. Tabata has been on the 15-day disabled list since last Tuesday with a left quadriceps strain. If everything continues going smoothly, he could return to the Pirates' starting lineup right after the All-Star break. The 22-year-old has three homers and 14 steals in 71 games.

The Pirates anticipate that Jose Tabata (quad) will be ready to return after the All-Star break. Tabata suffered a left quadriceps strain during Sunday's loss to the Red Sox and was officially placed on the disabled list Tuesday. Alex Presley, who will lead off Tuesday night against the Blue Jays, should get regular playing time in left field during his absence. He's worth a flier in NL-only leagues.

Pirates placed OF Jose Tabata on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadriceps strain. Tabata suffered the strain in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Red Sox while legging out a bunt single. The 22-year-old had to be carted off the field and could need more than two weeks off. He'll leave behind a .265/.351/.354 batting line, three home runs and 14 stolen bases. Alex Presley should play left field for the Pirates in Tabata's absence.

Jose Tabata had to leave Sunday's game in the first inning on a motorized cart due to a left quad injury. Tabata beat out a bunt single to lead off the game but then fell to the ground in obvious pain. He'll undergo additional testing Monday before the Pirates determine how long he might be sidelined, but it certainly looked like something that could keep him out for a while.

Jose Tabata is not in the Pirates' lineup Sunday due to a sore left thumb. It sounds like he'll probably just need the one day off before returning to the lineup Monday. Tabata is hitting .264/.351/.357 with three homers and 14 steals this season.
