Jordany Valdespin (groin) said that he has been checked by the doctor and is OK. Valdespin was squaring to bunt Monday and took a Justin Verlander fastball in the groin, but he somehow managed to escape unscathed. He should be fine to play in a day or two.

Jordany Valdespin exited Monday's game after being hit in the groin area by a Justin Verlander fastball. Ouch. Valdespin was squaring to bunt and just couldn't get out of the way in time. He eventually got to his feet but was lifted for a pinch-runner. The Mets should update his status later Monday.

Jordany Valdespin made his first outfield start Friday and hit his second homer against the Tigers. Valdespin had been playing mostly second base this spring, but he should still be in the running for a starting spot in the outfield. He's 8-for-24 with two homers so far.

After playing in the outfield during the Domincan Winter League, Jordany Valdespin's chances of making the Mets Opening Day roster could depend on his ability to play the infield. The Mets know that he's capable of playing in the outfield, but want to see Valdespin prove he can handle multiple infield positions defensively as well. He has also had issues with immaturity and insubordination during his young career, which could hurt his chances of starting the season in the major leagues.

ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports that Jordany Valdespin was suspended from playing for his Dominican Winter Ball team due to insubordination. The suspension kept him out of action for two weeks. Valdespin's maturity has been an issue at times, so the Mets likely aren't thrilled to hear about his latest misstep. The 24-year-old batted .241/.286/.424 with eight home runs, 26 RBI and a .710 OPS in 94 games with the Mets this past season.

Mets recalled INF/OF Jordany Valdespin from Triple-A Buffalo. Valdespin was sent down to the minors last week, but he's eligible to return now that Buffalo's season is over. The 24-year-old is hitting .242 with eight home runs, 26 RBI and seven stolen bases in 75 games with the Mets this season. He probably won't play everyday, but should be owned in NL-only leagues.

Mets optioned INF/OF Jordany Valdespin to Triple-A Buffalo. Valdespin was the corresponding move for Lucas Duda's return to the majors. The Mets are expected to call-up Valdespin when the Triple-A season ends and rosters expand.

Jordany Valdespin went 2-for-4 and hit his eighth homer against the Braves on Sunday night. Valdespin struck out in his other two at-bats, leaving him with a 29/4 K/BB rtio through 140 at-bats. Still, he's showed nice pop and maintained a decent average so far. It's going to be interesting to see what the Mets do with him next year. He's probably not going to hit enough to be a quality starter in an outfield corner, but he might fit in at second base or in center field.

Jordany Valdespin blasted a three-run homer in the ninth inning Tuesday, powering the Mets to what should have been a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Nationals. But Bobby Parnell and the rest of the Mets bullpen were unable to finish the job. Valdespin was pinch-hitting for Jason Bay, and fell behind in the count 1-2 before delivering the critical blow off the usually-reliable Tyler Clippard. Valdespin has displayed impressive power in limited at-bats this season, hitting .269 (21-for-78) with five homers and 18 RBI.
