Mets reinstated INF/OF Jordany Valdespin; assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo. Valdespin has completed his 50-game suspension for his ties to Biogenesis. He will not play again with the Mets this season and there's a good chance he could be removed from the 40-man roster this winter.

Jordany Valdespin has accepted a 50-game PED suspension from MLB. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal had the information first. Valdespin was one of the players who purchased performance-enhancing drugs from the Biogenesis clinic, though his name wasn't known publicly until Monday. The 25-year-old was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas last month and will end his season with a weak .188/.250/.316 batting line in 144 plate appearances with the Mets. He has likely worn out his welcome in Queens.

Jordany Valdespin was issued a three-game suspension at Triple-A Las Vegas for his role in a bench-clearing incident on Monday. Valdespin, who has had plenty of immaturity and insubordination issues in the past, was showboating after homering in the night-cap of a doubleheader. Later in the game, the opposing pitcher threw at him, hitting Valdespin in the hand. Valdespin's teammate retaliated by throwing at Grant Green the following inning, and a bench-clearing incident led to shoving and screaming, with Valdespin right in the middle of it.

Mets optioned OF Jordany Valdespin to Triple-A Las Vegas. Valdespin was optioned to make room for Scott Atchison on the 25-man roster. He's hitting just .189/.252/.318 this season.

Jordany Valdespin had an RBI single Saturday in a loss to the Cubs. His single in the bottom of the eighth inning broke an 0-for-15 streak. Valdespin is getting a chance to fill in at second base now that Daniel Murphy has taken over for the demoted Ike Davis at first base, but his audition doesn't figure to be a long one if he doesn't produce. However, he has enough pop and speed to be interesting in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Jordany Valdespin smacked a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Pirates. It wasn't a pitch-hit home run this time, as Valdespin entered the game in the ninth inning at second base, but he continues to prove useful off the bench. Unfortunately, he has a weak .234/.280/.277 batting line in games he has started this season.

Jordany Valdespin hit a walk-off grand slam to help the Mets top the Dodgers 7-3 on Wednesday. A simple single would have done just fine, but the 25-year-old obviously has a flair for the dramatic. The homer, Valdespin's first of the year, came after he entered the game for Juan Lagares in the eighth inning. Valdespin is now hitting .286 with three steals on the season and is a player to keep an eye on in deep mixed leagues.

Jordany Valdespin will play center field and bat leadoff Wednesday against the Phillies. The Mets have had a different leadoff hitter for each game in the series. With Collin Cowgill and Kirk Nieuwenhuis also in the mix for playing time in center field, it will likely take some time before Mets manager Terry Collins settles on a steady lineup. Mike Baxter is starting in right field on Wednesday while Marlon Byrd is taking a seat.

Jordany Valdespin tripled and scored a run in the Mets' 4-2 win over the Marlins on Friday night. Valdespin tripled to lead off the game and came around to score on an Andrew Brown triple. The 25-year-old is hitting .347 (17-for-49) with four homers this spring and has played himself into consideration to be a regular part of the starting lineup. While he offers little in the way of patience, Mets manager Terry Collins may bat him leadoff on some days.

Jordany Valdespin had two of the Mets' three hits and walked Sunday against the Braves. Valdespin upped his average to .378. He certainly should have a roster spot clinched, given the struggles of the Mets' outfielders. The more interesting decision will be whether Terry Collins decides to give him a starting job in right or center. The one issue there is that he's needed at second for the moment with Daniel Murphy becoming more questionable for Opening Day.
