Marlins signed RHP Jordan Smith to a minor league contract. Smith spent all of last season with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate, posting a 4.76 ERA over 51 appearances. The deal includes an invite to spring training.

Reds activated RHP Jordan Smith from the 15-day disabled list, optioned him to Triple-A Louisville. Smith dealt with a sore elbow in spring training but is evidently over that ailment. He should get a shot as a part of the Reds bullpen at some point.

Jordan Smith will be shut down for 10 days due to right elbow inflammation. Smith has allowed three runs over two innings of work this spring. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 7.20 ERA over 17 relief appearances at the major league level in 2011 and is likely to open the season with Triple-A Louisville.
