Schoop, who went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Angels, is batting only .138 this month with a 33.3 percent strikeout rate.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop has two home runs across 16 games in August, but it's otherwise been a rough month for the veteran. His season average has dipped to .200 amid the slump, and he's never really been able to get going this season. It's a stark contrast to last year, when Schoop batted .278 with 22 long balls and 84 RBI. He has just nine homers and 33 RBI so far in 2022.

Schoop went 2-for-8 with a solo home run and two runs scored across both games of Monday's doubleheader against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop got Sunday off but returned for both games Monday. The veteran infielder struggled in Game 1, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts, but he looked better in the nightcap as he blasted his ninth home run of the season. Unfortunately, Schoop has more frequently looked like the Game 1 version of himself this year, as he's batting just .203 with a .554 OPS.

Schoop is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop started the last seven games and will head to the bench after hitting .160 with one home run, four RBI and two runs during that span. Willi Castro will shift to the keystone while Akil Baddoo starts in left field.

Schoop went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly in a 9-1 win over the Rays on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop picked up his eighth home run of the season as part of a three-RBI performance. However, the home run came off an eephus pitch from position player Yu Chang, who was brought in to pitch after the Rays basically conceded the game. Schoop remains ice cold and is slashing .195/.234/.299 over the past 30 days. The 30-year-old second baseman is on pace for the worst full season of his career.

Schoop is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop has a .478 OPS in 14 contests since the All-Star break and will take a seat Friday after starting the past four games. Willi Castro will come in to play second base while Akil Baddoo starts in left field.

Schoop is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Willi Castro will pick up the nod at second base while Schoop sits for the first time since the All-Star break and only the sixth time all season. Over his 10 starts coming out of the All-Star break, Schoop has gone 7-for-36 (.194 average) with a home run, four RBI and three runs.

Schoop went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop and Willi Castro each hit solo home runs, but the Detroit offense was fairly stagnant otherwise. It's been a disappointing season for Schoop, who now has seven home runs and a .560 OPS. The veteran blasted 22 home runs and registered a .755 OPS last year. His current OPS would be the worst of his 10-year MLB career.

Schoop went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Games like this have been few and far between for Schoop most of the year, who is batting just .216 with a .591 OPS. However, the veteran has been much better this month with a .370 average and nine runs scored across 12 games. Schoop has proven himself a capable hitter at the MLB level in the past, so he may be able to sustain some success down the stretch.

Schoop is not in the starting lineup for the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop will get a breather after he went 12-for-29 with a double, an RBI, seven runs and four stolen bases over the last eight games. Harold Castro will take over at second base and bat third in Game 1.

Schoop went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Thursday in a 2-1 victory over Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Schoop singled and stole second in the second inning. It was the third straight game he swiped a bag. The sudden outburst of speed is a bit surprising for the 30-year-old as he's never stolen more than two bases in any previous season. The second baseman has turned it on in July, going 11-for-27 with a double and four stolen bases.
