Holder was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Holder has been a mainstay in the Yankee bullpen after making the roster out of spring training, racking up a 3.78 ERA and three holds over 33.1 innings of relief. However, the 24-year-old has allowed five earned runs over his last four appearances and is posting a 4.76 ERA on the month of June, so he'll get sent down to work out the kinks. Tyler Webb was recalled from Triple-A to fill the void.

Holder will be on the Opening Day roster, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holder entered camp with an outside shot of winning a spot in the big-league bullpen, but the 23-year-old impressed with nine strikeouts without a walk while holding the opposition scoreless in eight of his nine Grapefruit League appearances. He came up for a cup of coffee last September in his first stint in the majors and struggled during that stretch, but the righty excelled in 2016 before the call up, as he posted a 1.65 ERA and 14.0 K/9 across three levels of the minors.

Holder has yielded four runs over 4.2 innings (7.71 ERA) in four Grapefruit League appearances.
EDGE Analysis
The numbers may not look pretty, but all of the damage came in one outing, in which he surrendered a home run and four runs in 1.2 innings of work. After making his big league debut last September as a 23-year-old, Holder has an outside shot to win a back-end spot in the bullpen on the Opening Day roster. Despite a terrific 2016 campaign in which the righty worked to a 1.65 ERA with 101 strikeouts against just seven walks in 65.1 innings across three levels of the minors, he likely wouldn't get thrown into high-leverage situations out of the gate even if he stays in the majors.

The Yankees called up Holder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday, The Journal News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holder was not yet on the 40-man roster, but the Yankees decided to add him both to that and the major league roster after watching him punch out 101 batters and post a 1.65 ERA over 65.1 minor league innings this season. Despite the stellar numbers, Holder figures to open his big-league career in middle relief.
