Bormann was outrighted to High-A Bradenton on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Pirates needed an emergency catcher earlier this week, so they promoted Bormann all the way from High-A. He has just eight games of experience above Low-A, and he has never done much with the bat, so we may not hear his name again for quite some time.

Bormann was optioned back to High-A Bradenton on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Bormann essentially earned a promotion to the Pirates based on proximity, so it comes as no surprise that his major-league stint was a brief one. The 24-year-old was playing High-A ball in Florida when the Pirates called upon him to serve as the team's emergency backup catcher against Miami. With the Pirates still temporarily in need of another catcher, they've decided to go with Elias Diaz, a more polished option, while Bormann heads back to Bradenton for some more seasoning.

The Pirates recalled Bormann from High-A Bradenton on Sunday, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Pirates in need of an emergency catcher in a pinch while Francisco Cervelli nursed a sore foot, Bormann, who had been playing in the Florida State League, made the trek to Miami to join the big club for its afternoon game. The 24-year-old ended up entering the game in the ninth inning as a pinch hitter, striking out in his first MLB at-bat. Cervelli has said that he doesn't expect to require a trip to the disabled list, so Bormann may only remain with the big club for a few more days before heading back to the minors.
