Ortiz (hamstring) said Thursday he's running at close to 100 percent and is on track for activation from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Monday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear whether Ortiz will be asked to go out on a brief rehab assignment first, but either way, he appears poised for activation at the start of the Brewers' series next week against the Phillies. The shortstop has missed the last week of action with a left hamstring strain.

Ortiz (hamstring) fielded grounders Monday and hopes to be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Sept. 1, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz suffered a left hamstring strain last Thursday and was placed on the IL on Friday. He'll have to show he can ramp up his running without issue before convincing the Brewers he'll need only a minimum-length absence, but Ortiz seems to be doing well during the early stages of his recovery.

The Brewers placed Ortiz (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz left Thursday's game against the Cubs after grabbing at his hamstring while running out a groundball, and further testing revealed he's dealing with a strain. Per McCalvy, it's a low-grade strain. The 26-year-old shortstop's spot on the 26-man roster will go to Jake Bauers (shoulder), who's being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Look for Andruw Monasterio and Brice Turang to handle most of the action at shortstop while Ortiz is idle.

Ortiz has been diagnosed with a left hamstring injury after exiting Thursday's win over the Cubs in the fifth inning, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but Ortiz will presumably undergo further testing. His status for Friday's series opener against the Giants is uncertain. Andruw Monasterio filled in at shortstop in place of Ortiz on Thursday and would be the logical candidate to step in at the position if Ortiz needs to miss time.

Ortiz exited Thursday's game against the Cubs in the bottom of the fifth inning with an apparent left leg injury, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz grounded out to third in the top of the fifth and was grabbing at his left leg. He fouled a pitch off his left knee Tuesday, but it's unclear if the two issues are related. Andruw Monasterio has replaced Ortiz at shortstop for Milwaukee.

Ortiz (knee) is starting at shortstop and batting ninth against the Cubs on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz was originally slated to miss Wednesday's contest after fouling a pitch off his knee during Tuesday's game against the Cubs, but the issue is apparently minor given his presence in the lineup. Ortiz has logged at least two hits in five of his last 10 games, going 13-for-35 (.371) with one steal, two doubles and six RBI over that span.

Ortiz exited Tuesday night's game against the Cubs after fouling a pitch off his knee, and manager Pat Murphy said Ortiz won't play Wednesday versus Chicago, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
X-rays on Ortiz's knee came back negative, so he should be considered day-to-day. On top of the knee issue, Ortiz was also dealing with a stomach bug Tuesday. Andruw Monasterio could fill in at shortstop in place of Ortiz on Wednesday.

Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-2 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The shortstop kept the line moving from the ninth spot in the order, and Ortiz has three multi-hit performances in the last five games as he continues to climb out of an early-season hole. Over his last 20 contests, the 27-year-old is slashing .284/.314/.388 with four doubles, a homer, a steal, nine RBI and 12 runs.

Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Saturday's 8-7 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning and added a solo shot in the eighth. That homer ended up being the difference, as the Dodgers' rally in the eighth came up a run short. Ortiz is 5-for-16 over his last five games and continues to see a majority of the playing time at shortstop. For the year, he is slashing a modest .214/.270/.314 with seven homers, 30 RBI, 38 runs scored and nine stolen bases through 95 games.

Ortiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
After a recent two-game benching, Ortiz started each of the last four games but wasn't able to break out of his season-long funk at the plate, going just 2-for-12 with a run scored. Ortiz still looks to be the Brewers' preferred option at shortstop, but he'll give way to Andruw Monasterio for the final contest before the All-Star break.
