Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Red Sox and Dodgers are interested in trading for Joel Hanrahan. The Pirates have reportedly put Hanrahan on the block following the re-signing of Jason Grilli, who could take over as closer. Hanrahan is set for a raise in arbitration over his $4.1 million 2012 salary, and with the Pirates unlikely to retain him in free agency, it would make sense to move him. Heyman notes that the Dodgers appear set on adding a reliever and could also make a play for Chris Perez or Bobby Parnell.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Pirates are "pushing to move" closer Joel Hanrahan. Knobler calls Dodgers "one possibility." Hanrahan posted a 2.72 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 67/36 K/BB ratio in 59 2/3 innings this past season for the Bucs while converting 36 saves in 40 chances. The 31-year-old made $4.1 million in 2013 and is entering his third season of arbitration.

According to Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, the Tigers are not interested in acquiring Pirates closer Joel Hanrahan. The Pirates have been mentioned as a possible trade destination for Rick Porcello, but the Tigers appear content with fire-balling phenom Bruce Rondon at the back-end of their bullpen.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Pirates continue to talk about dealing closer Joel Hanrahan. The Pirates re-signed set-up man Jason Grilli on Monday, so talks could intensify in the coming days. Stark names the Dodgers and Tigers among potential matches. Hanrahan projects to make around $7 million in arbitration this winter and can become a free agent following the 2013 season.

According to MLB.com's Tom Singer, the Pirates may be interested in converting Joel Hanrahan into a starter. Hanrahan is in his final year of arbitration and has a projected salary of $7 million for 2013. The Pirates will continue to shop him this offseason, but could look to transition him into a starter and address their bullpen in free agency. The Dodgers recently discussed a possible deal for Hanrahan involving left-hander Chris Capuano, though a trade appears unlikely to happen.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Pirates have been shopping closer Joel Hanrahan for a few weeks. The Pirates have discussed a possible swap with the Dodgers involving left-hander Chris Capuano, but they have also talked to other teams. Hanrahan earned $4.1 million this past season while posting a 2.72 ERA, 36 saves and a 67/36 K/BB ratio over 59 2/3 innings in 2012 and is arbitration-eligible for the final time this winter.

Joel Hanrahan survived a shaky ninth inning Saturday against the Cubs for his 35th save of the season. Hanrahan entered the ninth inning with a 7-4 lead before giving up a double and a walk. He got Anthony Rizzo to fly out for the first out, but then gave up an RBI single to Alfonso Soriano to cut the lead to 7-5. Starlin Castro flew out to right center for the second out, but then Hanrahan walked back-to-back batters to force in a run. However, he managed to escape by striking out Dave Sappelt with the bases loaded to end it. It wasn't pretty, but the Pirates' seven-game losing streak is over.

Joel Hanrahan has allowed just two hits (and no runs) in his last 7 1/3 innings of relief. The right-hander has played a major role in the Pirates' success this season and should maintain his status as an elite fantasy closer down the stretch. Hanrahan has a 2.36 ERA and a 57/26 K/BB ratio in 49 2/3 total frames.

Joel Hanrahan allowed a run on a walk and a hit in the ninth inning on Thursday, but managed to rack up his 30th save of the season in a victory over the Astros. He's been one of the better closers in baseball again this season, having converted 30-of-33 save chances, while posting a 2.23 ERA and 45/21 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings. He's now just 10 saves away from achieving back-to-back 40 save efforts.
