Smith picked up his fifth save of the season Saturday, giving up one hit and striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
It's his second save in as many days, as Smith fills in for the injured Huston Street and keeps the Angels wild card hopes alive.

Smith (ankle) pitched one-third of an inning in Wednesday's game against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Smith had been sidelined him for the past couple weeks, but he finally made his return to the mound Wednesday, recording a strikeout of the only batter he faced. He should be good to go moving forward barring a reported setback of some kind.

Smith (ankle) will be available Wednesday against the A's, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Upon completion of a 17-pitch bullpen session and fielding drills Tuesday, Smith deemed himself ready to pitch, and manager Mike Scioscia later confirmed that the right-hander has been cleared to return. The skipper left open the possibility Smith could slot into the closer role with Huston Street (groin) sidelined.

Smith (ankle) took part in fielding drills Tuesday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
He appeared to be moving normally, according to the report, which is a good sign that Smith may be close to turning the page on the sprained ankle. The right-hander was also expected to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, and while the team has not said how that went, it appears Smith has a good chance to return for the final series of the regular season.

Smith (ankle) hopes to throw off a mound soon, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith may take the mound, but the team does not intend for him to start with a full bullpen session. The reliever remains a longshot to return this season, but if he does, Smith could become part of manager Mike Scioscia's closer-by-committee approach that was made necessary in the wake of Huston Street's groin injury.

Smith's MRI revealed an ankle sprain, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team didn't offer a timetable, but the Angels' setup man will likely be out a matter of weeks, which would mean his season may be over if the team can't sneak into a playoff spot.

Smith is awaiting MRI results on his sprained left ankle, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith suffered the sprain while off the field and the severity won't be known until the results of his medical tests are unveiled. Until that happens there's certainly cause for concern that the pitcher could miss a significant portion of the remaining regular season.

Smith was seen using crutches Saturday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was then reported Smith was using a walking boot which apparently stemmed from an incident in which he slipped on steps at the team hotel. It appears as if Smith suffered a slight sprain, however its unclear how much time he may miss from the injury.

Smith will be the Angels' closer in Huston Street's absence, manager Mike Scioscia told The Orange County Register on Thursday.
Street suffered a groin injury in Wednesday's appearance, which left the door open for Smith to close should Street miss some time. Smith will now step into the closer's role for at least this weekend, but it's difficult to gauge his value after the All-Star break given that Street could resume his role at that point. That said, Smith should be a viable short-term closer option for the time being.

Smith (neck) pitched a scoreless inning of relief Sunday, picking up the win against the Tigers.
Smith pitched a clean inning, facing just three batters and striking out one. He continues to serve in the eighth inning role for the Angels, limiting his value in non-hold leagues, but remains an injury of Huston Street away from taking over the closer role.
