Joe Blanton surrendered four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Giants on Tuesday.
Blanton allowed 10 hits. All but one of them -- an Angel Pagan double -- was a single, but that's just too many to surrender and still expect to escape with minimal damage. Given that he's 0-3 with a 7.71 ERA in four starts for the team, the Dodgers will have to weigh bouncing him from the rotation.

Joe Blanton was solid in his Dodger debut Sunday, giving up two runs over six innings as part of a no-decision against the Cubs.
After five years as a Phillie, Blanton did his usual thing in Dodger blue. He struck out five, walked three, yielded five hits and threw 103 pitches. Blanton's ERA projects to move in the right direction thanks to the pitcher-friendly confines of Dodger Stadium.

Joe Blanton will make his Dodgers debut on Sunday afternoon against the Cubs.
Blanton, who was acquired from the Phillies on Friday, is replacing Stephen Fife in the Dodgers' starting rotation. A solid back-of-the-rotation innings-eater, Blanton compiled a 4.59 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 115/18 K/BB ratio in 133 1/3 innings with the Phillies before the trade.

Dodgers acquired RHP Joe Blanton from the Phillies for a player to be named player or cash considerations.
The deal was agreed to after the Dodgers claimed Blanton off waivers this week. While the Dodgers didn't end up acquiring Ryan Dempster before Tuesday's trade deadline, Blanton isn't the worst backup plan. The 31-year-old right-hander has a 4.59 ERA and 115/18 K/BB ratio over 133 1/3 innings this season. He's useful insurance for the rotation as Ted Lilly works his way back from shoulder issues.

Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com writes that a deal between the Orioles and Phillies involving Joe Blanton is "looking more and more like it wont happen."
The Orioles don't want to pick up the $3 million left on Blanton's contract and the two sides differ on what the Phillies should get in return. Of course, a compromise could be reached before Tuesday's deadline, but a deal appears unlikely at the moment.

Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that Joe Blanton's medical records have been faxed to the Orioles' orthopedist.
It's unclear whether this is just due diligence or if the Phillies and Orioles are close to an agreement. Blanton has a 4.59 ERA and 115/18 K/BB ratio through 133 1/3 innings this season with Philadelphia. While the 31-year-old right-hander isn't a frontline starter, he would at least eat some innings for a thin starting staff.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Orioles have talked to the Phillies about Joe Blanton.
Blanton has made it through six innings in each of his last 10 starts and owns a cool 115/18 K/BB ratio through 133 1/3 overall frames this season. He'd be a nice fit for the Orioles, who have struggled to get consistent starting pitching. Blanton is currently scheduled to become a free agent five days after the conclusion of the World Series.

Joe Blanton pitched well in Saturday's loss to the Braves, allowing just two runs on four hits over seven strong innings.
Blanton punched out seven and walked only one on the evening. A Chipper Jones sacrifice fly in the first inning got the Braves on the board, while a Jason Heyward RBI single in the third drove home the eventual winning run. While he hasn't been great, Blanton continues to plod along and effectively eat up innings at the back of the Phillies rotation. He'll take an 8-9 record and 4.59 ERA into Friday's home start against the Diamondbacks.
