Winker was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
With Zack Cozart (quadriceps) and Bronson Arroyo (shoulder) both landing on the disabled list, the top prospect will make a return trip to the big leagues to help fill the void. Winker still hasn't shown much power in the minor leagues, compiling just two home runs in 64 games this season, but his .317 batting average and 33:32 K:BB in that span give him some appeal, especially in the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park. It may be tough to get regular at-bats with Scott Schebler, Adam Duvall and Billy Hamilton occupying the outfield spots at the moment, although it's unlikely that the Reds would call up one of their brightest minor leaguers to have him act as a bench piece.

Winker enters play Friday hitting .271/.360/.318 with no homers and no stolen bases. His sort of offensive stat line at Triple-A is incredibly unique, Zach Buchanan from the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
As Buchanan elaborates, Winker's lack of slugging prowess is not ideal given that he's not a plus defender in the outfield either. The presumption going into this season was that Winker would ultimately supplant Scott Schebler in the outfield, but he doesn't appear especially close to that promotion.

Winker was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.
EDGE Analysis
Winker was brought up by the Reds as a short-term fill-in for one of their final bench spots. During this short stint, the outfielder went 1-for-2 at the plate with a double in two pinch-hit appearances. This definitely won't be the last we see of Winker this season, but fantasy owners will have to wait a bit longer to see consistent production in the majors.

Winker could be optioned back to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds are saying that Winker was just brought up to fill out the bench for a couple days -- Winker is out of the lineup Friday against the Brewers after being called up. A roster spot will be needed for Sal Romano, Sunday's starter against Milwaukee, and it's possible Winker loses his spot as manager Bryan Price has been adamant that his starting outfield is set with Adam Duvall, Billy Hamilton and Scott Schebler. It seems inevitable that Winker will replace Schebler in the regular lineup eventually, but it may not be right away.

Winker is not in Friday's lineup against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
He is presumably available off the bench after being promoted from Triple-A earlier in the day. Winker has one of the best hit tools among prospects, and has the best approach among players who have yet to play in the majors, as he boasts a 63:65 K:BB in 486 plate appearances at Triple-A. He is the presumed everyday right fielder going forward, but will apparently be eased into action. Winker is not a "must-add" caliber of prospect in shallower leagues, but he should be scooped up in deeper leagues, as he has a high floor and could tap into some sneaky power playing half his games in Great American Ball Park.

Winker was recalled by the Reds on Friday and could be set to make his major league debut this weekend.
EDGE Analysis
Winker has picked up right where he left off at Triple-A Louisville this season, hitting .323 with five RBI after slashing .303/.397/.384 in a sizzling 2016 campaign. The 23-year-old is considered one of the Reds' most valuable prospects, known for his low strikeout rate and ability to find the gaps. His power-hitting capacity leaves much to be desired, but Winker could turns some heads if he can get on base. Regular left fielder Adam Duvall is off to a great start this season, batting .316 with three home runs, so playing time may be hard to come by in the early going. Nonetheless, the call up should provide a tremendous opportunity for the young hitter.

Winker is hitting .308/.424/.385 with two doubles and a 4:6 K:BB in 26 at-bats for Triple-A Louisville.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds can call Winker up after Friday and gain an extra year of control, and while he is 0-for-2 on stolen-base attempts and has yet to leave the yard, he is getting on base at an elite clip through seven games in the International League. Meanwhile, Scott Schebler is hitting .179/.303/.464 with a pair of home runs and an impressive 5:4 K:BB in 33 plate appearances for the big-league club. Schebler has been the victim of a .143 BABIP, and has likely done enough to earn a longer look before the Reds promote their top outfield prospect.

Winker was optioned to Triple-A Louisville, the Dayton Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Scott Schebler looks set to start in right field as a result. However, Winker may not be in the minors long as one of Cincy's top prospects.

Winker followed a three-hit game Saturday with two more hits Sunday in the Reds' spring training win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
All five hits over the weekend were singles, which is representative of what happened at Triple-A Louisville last season. He has a good hit tool that hasn't translated into hitting for power. Winker also has one walk against six strikeouts so far in spring training play. He's still a good bet to begin the season back at Louisville.

Winker faces an uphill battle to make the Reds' Opening Day roster, though manager Bryan Price didn't rule out the possibility. "I'd like Jesse and anyone that is close to or ready for the big leagues to press us to make a tough decision late in camp, to keep themselves in camp as late as they can," Price said. "Things happen. You can't ignore performance sometimes."
EDGE Analysis
This is nearly boilerplate spring training talk from the manager - Winker currently is slated to go back to Triple-A Louisville, where he can play every day. It's unlikely that he would stick with the big club unless he wins a starting job over Scott Schebler.
