Biddle was claimed by the Braves on Saturday, Travis Sawchik of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being designated for assignment by the Pirates last week, Biddle was claimed off waivers by the Braves on Saturday to add a southpaw to their roster. The former first rounder has never advanced beyond Triple-A and underwent Tommy John surgery in October, meaning that the Braves will have to be patient with him as he'll likely be on the shelf for the 2016 season. Still, if Biddle can tap into the talent that warranted a first round selection in 2010, this could prove to be a savvy addition for the rebuilding Braves.

Biddle was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The move is to make room for David Freese on the 40-man roster and leaves Biddle's future in doubt for the second time this offseason. Biddle landed with the Pirates after getting designated for assignment by the Phillies. Whichever team he lands with will have to be patient if it thinks he can still be a major league pitcher, as he's out for the entirety of 2016 due to Tommy John surgery and had control issues before the injury.

Biddle (elbow) was traded to the Pirates on Wednesday, CSN Philadelphia's Jim Salisbury reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was designated for assignment last week, but considering his previous status as a highly-touted prospect, it is not surprising that the Phillies received interest in Biddle. Back in 2012 he was electric at times, flashing a beautiful curveball with great shape and depth, but poor command and a fringe fastball led to him getting hit hard in the upper levels of the minors, and he now serves as a cautionary tale for prospect hounds who fall in love with pitchers with incomplete repertoires in the lower levels. That said, the Pirates might be the best developmental organization for pitchers, so this is an ideal spot for Biddle to try to salvage his professional career. This has very little fantasy impact, however, as Biddle will miss all of 2016 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in the fall, so it won't be clear what the Pirates have in Biddle until 2017. He will likely spend all of 2016 on the 60-day DL.

Biddle was designated for assignment Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This move was made to make room on the 40-man roster for Bobby LaFromboise, who was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Friday. Biddle, a former first-round pick and top prospect, has struggled to find his command throughout his career, posting BB/9 rates ranging from 3.42 to 5.50 over the past five seasons. To make matters worse, Biddle underwent Tommy John surgery in October and will miss the entire 2016 season. It could be a while before the 24-year-old is even on the radar for fantasy purposes.

Biddle allowed seven runs on five hits in 2.1 innings in his debut for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. He walked six batters in the outing and struck out just one.
Biddle was facing a lineup that featured Daniel Nava, Jackie Bradley Jr., Allen Craig and Jemile Weeks. They all have significant major league experience, making Wednesday's start a real test for the young lefty. Biddle has plenty of work to do before he can be considered an option for the Phillies. Priority number one has to be cutting down on the free passes. It is a problem that has plagued him throughout his professional career.

Biddle was promoted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports.
Biddle was once a highly touted prospect in the lower levels of the minors, but this was his third straight year at Double-A as the developmental process seemed to stall. A lefty with a big bender, Biddle is still just 23, but his 4.28 FIP and 57 strikeouts in 80.2 innings this year at Double-A show just how far he has fallen since the days when he routinely recorded more than a strikeout per inning. Biddle will likely get a shot at the big league level next season, but he now profiles as a No. 4 or No. 5 starter, and is therefore fairly uninteresting in most dynasty leagues.

Biddle told CSN Philadelphia that he is working on changing his approach this season. "I'm not trying to pick apart the plate too much," Biddle said. "I'm attacking hitters and being aggressive down in the zone and not pitching for strikeouts. I'm not judging my performances on how many strikeouts I have, but judging them by how many early groundballs I got."
Biddle's strikeout rate has dropped from 8.77 K/9 last season to 6.11 this season. He also has shaved nearly a walk off his BB/9 ratio, dropping from 4.82 last season to 3.9 this season. The walk rate is still too high, but at least Biddle is moving in the right direction now. Overall, he is 7-1 with a 3.62 ERA and a 47:30 K:BB ratio in 69.2 innings for Double-A Reading.

Biddle, 23, tossed five shutout innings Saturday for Double-A Reading. The 6-foot-5 southpaw allowed just two hits, walked two batters and fanned four.
Biddle had a rough 2014, both mentally and physically. He posted a 4.58 ERA and 92:51 K:BB ratio in 94.1 innings, mostly at this same level. He battled quad and elbow injuries, and also took some time off to recharge mentally. 2015 will be a clean slate, and Biddle is off to an excellent start.
