Luzardo (9-5) allowed two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings Tuesday, striking out four and earning a win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and didn't face much more trouble the rest of his impressive outing. It was a much-needed bounce-back performance after giving up a combined 10 runs in 9.2 innings over his previous two appearances. He threw 62 of 90 pitches for strikes but generated just six whiffs. Luzardo turned in a terrific 2.15 ERA through 67 innings to begin the year but has since produced a 7.00 ERA over his last 11 starts. He'll carry a 4.31 ERA and a 140:44 K:BB into his next matchup, which is projected to be at home against the Orioles next week.

Luzardo didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing six runs on two hits and five walks in five innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo's up-and-down season continued, as he surrendered at least five runs for the fourth time in his last 10 starts. He melted down during a calamitous fifth inning, when Boston drove in six runs on two hits and four walks in the frame. While the hard-throwing left-hander has fanned at least seven on six occasions across his last 10 outings, he's witnessed his ERA balloon from 2.15 on May 25 to 4.58 for the year following Wednesday's clunker. Luzardo has a 8.04 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 59:24 K:BB over his last 47 innings, and things may not get much easier his next time out against a White Sox team with a .827 OPS versus left-handed pitching since the start of July.

Luzardo came away with a no-decision in Friday's 6-5 loss to the Angels, giving up four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The ball was flying out of Citizens Bank Park, with the two teams combining for six homers, and Luzardo served up two of them -- a solo shot by Jorge Soler in the second inning, and a two-run blast by Jo Adell in the fourth. The southpaw got the hook after an inefficient 92 pitches (53 strikes), and he continues to have trouble regaining the Cy Young form he was flashing to begin the season. While Friday's homers were the first Luzardo had allowed since June 17, he's walked multiple batters in four of six starts during that stretch, stumbling to a 4.45 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB in 30.1 innings. He'll try to get back on track in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Red Sox.

Luzardo (8-5) earned the win Wednesday against the Giants, allowing three hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
It was a much-needed bounce-back effort from Luzardo, after he gave up six runs (five earned) in just two innings against the Reds in his last start. The southpaw had struggled to a 9.49 ERA in seven outings (30.1 innings) prior to Wednesday. Luzardo will finish an up-and-down first half of the season with a 4.14 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 122:36 K:BB across 19 starts (104.1 innings).

Luzardo (7-5) took the loss against the Reds on Friday, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts over two innings.
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo was spotted a 3-0 lead in the first inning but unraveled in the third, failing to record an out while ultimately being charged with five runs in the frame. The southpaw had allowed just seven total earned runs over his previous four starts after reportedly correcting a pitch-tipping issue, but he's now surrendered at least four earned runs in four of his past seven outings. On the year, he owns a 4.44 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 115:35 K:BB across 97.1 innings and will try to rebound in a road matchup with the Giants next week.

Luzardo (7-4) allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings to take the loss Saturday versus Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo wasn't great, but he did an effective job of limiting the damage in this start after giving up one run in each of the first two innings. He finished June with 15 runs allowed over 25 innings, though an eight-run meltdown June 5 skewed the numbers. He also posted a 30:10 K:BB this month, and while that's a little high on the walks side, he ranks both top-10 in strikeouts (111) and K/9 (10.48) so far this season. Luzardo's at a 4.06 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 95.1 innings across 17 starts, and he's tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Reds his next time out.

Luzardo (7-3) picked up the win Sunday against the Mets, allowing three hits and one walk over 6.2 scoreless innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo has endured a roller coaster during the past month, allowing three or fewer runs in three of his six outings, but allowing eight or more runs twice. He was excellent Sunday, notching his first scoreless start since April 4 and picking up his second win in his last three appearances. Luzardo owns a 4.08 ERA and a 104:29 K:BB in 90.1 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to face Atlanta next weekend.

Luzardo (6-3) took the loss Tuesday as the Phillies were downed 8-3 by the Marlins, giving up four runs on six hits and four walks over five-plus innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The Miami native and former Marlin took a 3-2 lead into the sixth inning, but after walking the first two batters of the frame, Luzardo got the hook and watched Tanner Banks allow both inherited runners to cross the plate. Luzardo racked up 32 called or swinging strikes among his 103 pitches, but he threw only 59 total strikes as he had trouble putting batters away. It's the third time in his last six trips to the mound that he's walked multiple batters while failing to fan more than four, but he reached double-digit Ks in the other three outings, all of which were quality starts. Luzardo will try to regain some consistency in his next turn, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Mets.

Luzardo (6-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's 7-2 victory over the Cubs, allowing one run on five hits over six innings. He struck out 10 without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander made a slight mechanical adjustment to try and avoid tipping pitches after getting hammered for 20 earned runs in only 5.2 innings over his prior two starts, a collapse that saw his ERA soar from 2.15 to 4.46. The tweak paid immediate dividends, as Luzardo fanned double-digit batters for the fourth time this season and didn't issue a walk for only the second time. He racked up 30 called or swinging strikes among his 99 pitches (70 total strikes), and he seems back in elite form heading into a potential revenge game in his next outing, a road start scheduled for early next week in Miami.

Luzardo (5-2) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing eight runs on nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts over 2.1 innings
EDGE Analysis
Luzardo surrendered eight runs across the second and third innings in his shortest outing of the season. After yielding just 16 earned runs through his first 11 starts, he's now been tagged for 20 over his past two. The southpaw's velocity remained in line with his season averages, suggesting a loss of command rather than stuff at the moment. He now carries a 4.46 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 83:34 K:BB across 72.2 innings and lines up for a difficult matchup with the Cubs next week.
