Hoffman picked up his third blown save of the season, surrendering two runs on two hits while striking out one in Thursday's 7-6 extra-innings win against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The month of May continues to be a struggle for Hoffman with all three of his blown saves coming in the last couple weeks. In his last eight appearances, the 31-year-old has allowed 13 runs and his ERA has ballooned up to 6.04 after an April that saw him finish at 1.17. Hoffman's 13.7 K/9 is still elite, so his closer spot perhaps isn't in danger just yet, but Hoffman will have to put these last few months behind him quickly and regain his footing if he wants to keep his spot with other leverage guys like Yimi Garcia pitching well behind him.

Hoffman earned the save Tuesday against the Padres after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was sharp, making quick work of the heart of San Diego's batting order while hurling eight of his nine pitches for strikes. Tuesday marked a second consecutive scoreless outing for the hard-throwing right-hander, who had yielded 11 runs over his previous three innings of work. The Blue Jays have shown trust in Hoffman as their closer after signing him to a three-year contract this past offseason, and the 32-year-old righty carries a 1.13 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB while converting 10 of his 12 save opportunities despite a shaky 5.48 ERA across 21.1 innings in 2025.

Hoffman (4-2) walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday to pick up the win in a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
With the score tied 1-1, Toronto's closer was brought in to work the top of the ninth and saw a leadoff walk erased on a double play started by Nathan Lukes, who threw out Gleyber Torres trying to tag up and advance to second base on a fly ball deep into the left-field corner. Hoffman then collected the win on Ernie Clement's walk-off single in the bottom of the frame. It was a reassuring effort from Hoffman after he got tagged for five runs in a third of an inning in his last appearances, but he's having an awful May overall with a 19.80 ERA in five innings while going just 3-for-5 in converting save chances.

Hoffman (3-2) was charged with a blown save and the loss Tuesday against the Rays after allowing five runs on four hits and a walk while picking up a strikeout as the only out he recorded.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman entered to begin the ninth protecting a one-run lead and got off on the right foot with a strikeout, but everything went downhill from there. He proceeded to give up three singles and a walk before Junior Caminero launched a grand slam to put the Rays up 11-7. Hoffman's now allowed 11 runs in his last five appearances after allowing just two runs in 16.1 innings prior to his recent struggles. He's up to a 6.05 ERA but still sports an excellent 31:4 K:BB in 19.1 innings.

Hoffman struck out three in a perfect inning to earn the save in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman picked up his second save in as many days with this effort. He needed 17 pitches (11 strikes) to get the job done, but it was another encouraging outing after his struggles earlier in the week versus the Angels. The closer is up to nine saves in 10 chances while pitching to a 3.79 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 30:3 K:BB across 19 innings this season. Since he's pitched four of the last five days, Hoffman is unlikely to be available for any potential save chances in Sunday's getaway day game.

Hoffman struck out three without giving up a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 6-3 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman allowed one batter to reach on a wild pitch, but the Blue Jays' lead was never in danger. The right-hander had allowed three runs in back-to-back appearances, and he took a blown save and a loss in Wednesday's game versus the Angels. This was a bounce-back effort, and it's encouraging the Blue Jays went right back to him after Chad Green picked up a spot save Thursday with Hoffman resting. Hoffman's recent struggles have his ERA up to 4.00 with a 1.00 WHIP and 27:3 K:BB over 18 innings, and he's added eight saves in nine chances as Toronto's main closer.

Hoffman (3-1) took the loss and blew a save against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits and one walk while striking out one batter in one-third of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman had the opportunity to notch his eighth save in eight chances when he entered with a two-run lead in the ninth inning, but he instead walked away with his first blown save of the campaign. The right-handed closer allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base, and after striking out Taylor Ward, he served up a bases-clearing, walk-off double to Jorge Soler. It was the second straight blow-up for Hoffman against the Angels -- on Tuesday, he also surrendered three runs over one-third of an inning in a non-save situation. Prior to the pair of ugly outings, Hoffman had allowed just two runs over 16.1 frames to begin the season.

Hoffman logged a save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Guardians, allowing one hit and one walks while striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman was brought in for the ninth inning to preserve a two-run lead, but it wasn't an easy going for the 32-year-old right-hander. He had runners on second and third after yielded a walk and a double, but Hoffman was able to escape unscathed after getting Gabriel Arias to ground out to third base. Hoffman needed 26 pitches (16 strikes) to secure his seventh save of the season, which may impact his availability for Saturday's contest.

Hoffman (3-0) struck out three over two perfect innings of relief Wednesday to pick up the win in an extra-inning victory over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
After shutting down Boston in the ninth inning, Hoffman stayed on the mound for the 10th and was rewarded when the Blue Jays walked it off in the bottom of the frame. The 32-year-old right-hander has been needed more than one inning in three of his last seven appearances, racking up three wins and three saves during that span with a 0.90 ERA, 0.50 WHIP and 16:1 K:BB over 10 innings. Hoffman hadn't worked since Sunday, so he was well rested, but after tossing 27 pitches Wednesday he likely won't be available should a save situation arise Thursday in the series finale against the Red Sox.

Hoffman earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Yankees, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Hoffman got the call to come in for the ninth inning to preserve a 4-2 Toronto lead. He yielded a two-out double to Ben Rice, but Hoffman finished things off on a Paul Goldschmidt pop out. Hoffman is up to six saves on the season (tied for fifth in the American League) and has a 1.35 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 19:1 K:BB across 13.1 innings.
