Rockies re-signed LHP Jeff Francis to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
The deal was reported earlier this month and now becomes official after Francis passed a physical. The left-hander posted an ugly 5.58 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 24 starts for the Rockies in 2012, but he'll compete for a rotation spot next season.

Jeff Francis will get a base salary of $1.5 million in his new one-year contract with the Rockies.
Those financial details are provided by ESPN's Jerry Crasnick. Francis agreed to the deal on Wednesday and will officially rejoin the Rockies on Friday after passing a physical. The left-hander is expected to compete for the fifth spot in the 2013 Colorado starting rotation.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Rockies have re-signed Jeff Francis to a one-year contract.
The financials aren't known, but he's getting a major league deal. Francis hasn't been the same pitcher since shoulder surgery, as he has a low ERA of 4.82 over the three years since the operation and put up a 5.58 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 24 starts for the Rockies in 2012.

Jeff Francis held the Diamondbacks to one run on five hits in five innings of Wednesday's season finale, improving to 6-7 in Colorado's 5-1 win.
Francis struck out three, walked one and allowed a solo home run to A.J. Pollock. The five-inning start was just his third in seven outings going back to September 1. That, of course, is largely a result of the Rockies' 75-pitch limit. Francis closes the book on 2012 the owner of a 5.58 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 76/22 K/BB ratio across 113 innings. Hopefully the Rox try to do better for their 2013 rotation.

Jeff Francis did his thing in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, allowing five runs on six hits in four innings of work.
He struck out three and walked one. Francis' biggest mistake came in the second, where he surrendered a three-run homer to Shane Victorino. The bomb was just Victorino's second in 48 games as a Dodger. Handcuffed by the Rockies' absurd 75-pitch limit, Francis has recorded more than 12 outs only twice in his past six starts. The owner of a 5.75 ERA and 73/21 K/BB ratio through 108 frames, he's unlikely to be invited back to Colorado in 2013.

Jeff Francis pitched well in Tuesday's loss to the Giants, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings.
Francis walked one and struck out three. Xavier Nady delivered an RBI single in the second inning to get the Giants on the board and added another RBI knock in the sixth. Francis now sits 5-6 with a 5.58 ERA through 100 innings this season. He'll search for better results when he takes on the Diamondbacks at home on Sunday.

Jeff Francis twirled a gem in a no-decision against the Phillies on Friday, scattering six hits and a walk over 5 2/3 scoreless innings.
Francis punched out seven in the impressive performance. With the Rockies' rotation being mostly horrendous on the whole, Francis has actually done a decent job, posting a 5-4 record, 5.38 ERA and 62/19 K/BB ratio over his 92 innings. He'll look to carry over the momentum from this strong outing when he squares off against the Giants at home on Wednesday.

Jeff Francis was hammered in a no-decision against the Padres on Sunday, allowing five runs on 10 hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Francis walked four on the afternoon without walking a batter. Chase Headley was responsible for most of the damage, belting a two-run homer in the first and plating two more with a single in the fourth inning. He'll head into Friday's start against the Phillies in Philadelphia with an unimpressive 5-4 record and 5.73 ERA.

Jeff Francis lasted just five innings Monday but held the Dodgers scoreless on three hits and a walk in the 10-0 victory.
He whiffed a season-high six, as he out-dueled Josh Beckett. Francis has certainly been nothing special, but, sadly, has probably been the Rockies' most consistent starter. He'll bring a 5.44 ERA and 1.43 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Padres.

Jeff Francis scattered five hits and one run across five innings Wednesday, but took a no-decision in Colorado's 5-2 win over the Mets.
He struck out four and walked two. Rockies hurlers have rarely pitched long enough to even qualify for a win since the team's 75-pitch limit was instituted, so all things considered, it was a very nice night for the 31-year-old lefty. He'll have his hands full with the Dodgers at home next Monday, however. Through 77 2/3 innings, Francis has posted a rough 5.79 ERA.
