Jeff Francis gave up two earned runs in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks. Arizona won the game on a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning. Francis did his part for Colorado, yielding only four hits and one walk while striking out two. He was pitching on three days' rest yet still lowered his ERA from 8.44 to 7.29.

Jeff Francis will start on three days' rest on Saturday against the Diamondbacks. Francis lasted only 75 pitches over four innings in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, so it shouldn't be a big issue him coming back on short rest. Of course, given his 8.44 ERA and 2.25 WHIP to this point, he's likely to stink no matter how much rest he has.

Jeff Francis gave up four runs and three homers in four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Braves. Since beating the Padres in his season debut, Francis has allowed 19 runs -- 14 earned -- over 10 innings in three starts. The Rockies may consider replacing him if he's not better next time out.

Monday's game between the Braves and Rockies has been postponed due to snow. The two clubs will attempt to make up Monday's game with a doubleheader on Tuesday, with the first game beginning at 4:10 p.m. ET and the nightcap set for 8:40 p.m. Monday's starters, Jeff Francis and Mike Minor, will presumably be pushed back a day.

Jeff Francis was roughed up again Tuesday but escaped with a no-decision, allowing eight runs -- six earned -- over 4 1/3 frames in the 9-8 win. He gave up nine hits, walked four and threw a pair of wild pitches. Francis pitched well in his first start of the season, but he's now been lit up for 15 runs -- 10 earned -- the last two times out. Drew Pomeranz should take his rotation spot eventually, though he also struggled the last time out. Francis will carry an 8.25 ERA and 2.33 WHIP into this weekend's start against the Diamondbacks.

Jeff Francis was pulled after giving up seven runs -- four earned -- in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Giants. Francis allowed two runs in the first and then five before being removed in the second. Defense was certainly an issue that inning, and the foolish call to intentionally walk Joaquin Arias didn't help matters. But as little as Francis has left on his fastball, he's going to have days like this.

Jeff Francis turned in a terrific performance in Friday's victory over the Reds, scattering just four hits over five scoreless innings of work. Francis piled up five strikeouts on the evening without issuing a free pass. He's certainly been on his game this spring, posting a 1.96 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10/2 K/BB ratio over his 18 1/3 innings. He's done enough to secure his place in the Rockies rotation to begin the season, but offers little if any value in most fantasy formats.

Jeff Francis gave up four runs on six hits and walked two in 4 1/3 innings in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers. Francis hadn't allowed a run in 13 innings entering the game, but struggled against the middle of the Dodgers' lineup and was eventually pulled after giving up a three-run homer to Juan Uribe. Francis is the leading candidate to open the season a the Rockies' No. 5 starter.

Jeff Francis struck out four over four scoreless frames in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. Francis allowed just one single and didn't walk anyone. The soft-tossing left-hander has now spun nine scoreless innings and hasn't walked a batter in his three Cactus League appearances. He's probably close to locking up a spot in the Rockies' rotation, but he should be far away from your fantasy team.

Jeff Francis will not participate for Team Canada in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, opting instead to focus on competing for a spot in the Rockies rotation. Francis was signed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract in December to return to the club. The 32-year-old left-hander went 6-7 with a 5.58 ERA in 24 starts with the Rockies in 2012. He's proven in years past to be a valuable innings-eater and could provide veteran leadership to a very inexperienced rotation.
