Martinez (foot) is tentatively scheduled to play right field for High-A Lakeland on Saturday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Everything will depend on how Martinez feels coming out of his first rehab game with Lakeland on Friday (in which he'll serve as the DH), but a return to the outfield appears imminent. Playing the outfield and playing the outfield on back-to-back days are probably the final hurdles for Martinez, who is working his way back from a sprained lisfranc ligament in his right foot. He has been logging at-bats in extended spring training over the past week or so.

Martinez (foot) is set to begin a rehab assignment with High-A Lakeland on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
On Monday, Martinez fouled a ball off his left foot -- not the already injured right foot -- but X-rays were negative. This upcoming assignment is a positive step for the outfielder, who rejoin the major-league club sometime next week if all goes well.

Martinez has not played defense during his rehab, the Detroit Free Press' Anthony Fenech reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Martinez may be nearing a return soon, he will need at least some defensive reps before rejoining the Tigers. The 29-year-old suffered a minor setback Tuesday after fouling a ball off the foot he is not rehabbing during an extended spring training game.

Martinez fouled a ball off his left foot during an extended spring training game Monday but X-rays were negative, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was the "other" foot -- Martinez is currently working his way back from a sprained lisfranc ligament in his right foot -- and apparently no significant damage was done. That said, Martinez was sore coming out of Friday's extended spring game, and this incident may further delay his return to the outfield. Martinez will need to show ample mobility in the outfield before the Tigers active him.

Martinez (foot) indicated he was feeling sore after logging nine at-bats in an extended spring training game Friday, but could still play in another game Monday, Chris McCosky of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez, who went 3-for-9 during Friday's game, took Saturday and Sunday off to receive treatment on his right foot, and the Tigers are hopeful that's all he'll need for the soreness to subside. Even if the Tigers decide to err on the side of caution and hold Martinez out Monday, it shouldn't be viewed as a major setback. While the fact that Martinez is facing pitching is encouraging, the Tigers may not have a clear idea of when he'll rejoin the big club until he tests out his foot by playing right field.

Martinez (foot) went 3-for-9 in an extended spring training game Friday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez continues to slowly make his way back from a sprained right foot that has kept him sidelined him since spring training. The 29-year-old may need a brief rehab assignment before activation, but he still remains hopeful to return sometime in May.

Martinez (foot) took live batting practice Wednesday and will play in an extended spring training game when ready, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The outfielder probably won't return until sometime in early May, at earliest, considering this timetable. Martinez may need a brief stint in a live game before activation.

Martinez (foot) ran again Monday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The slugger continues to workout without any issues, with this being his second running outing since Friday. If everything checks out in the next day or so, Martinez could head out on a rehab assignment before returning to Detroit.

Manager Brad Ausmus said Sunday that the Tigers are hopeful Martinez (foot) will return from the 10-day disabled list later in April or in early May, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez is gradually increasing the intensity of his workouts, most recently running at about 40-to-60 percent strength Friday. He's scheduled to run again Monday, and if his sprained right foot checks out fine, the 29-year-old could soon be sent out for a rehab assignment. With the Tigers recently placing Miguel Cabrera (groin) on the DL, the team could certainly benefit from Martinez's return sooner rather than later.

Martinez (foot) is scheduled to take batting practice Wednesday and is expected to begin running on the field Friday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez still looks to be a week or more away from being activated from the disabled list, but the on-field running marks an important step in the recovery process for the outfielder. Since suffering the mid-foot sprain in a March 18 Grapefruit League game, Martinez had been limited to running on a treadmill, so once he's able to show his mobility won't be an issue while covering the field, the Tigers might be able to flesh out a more defined return date. Because he's missed more than a month with the injury, Martinez will eventually require bulk at-bats during simulated games at extended spring training before his activation.
