Chisholm went 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and two RBI in the Marlins' 29-9 loss to the Braves on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite a miserable performance from his team's pitching staff, Chisholm's exploits at the plate offered something of a silver lining for Miami. The two extra-base hits were the first of the young middle infielder's career, as he had gotten off to a 1-for-16 start at the dish following his Sept. 1 callup from the Marlins' alternate training site. Though Chisholm looks poised to continue seeing regular starts at second base while he's up with the big club, he'll need to turn in more outings like Wednesday's in order to hold off Isan Diaz, who should eventually return from the Marlins' alternate site after recently opting back into the 2020 season.

Chisholm will start at shortstop and will bat ninth Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
After coming off the bench in his MLB debut Tuesday, Chisholm will pick up his first career start while Miguel Rojas (abdomen) gets the day off. Rojas is expected to reclaim everyday duties at shortstop once he's healthy again, but Chisholm could still have a path to regular playing time at second base after the Marlins' primary option at the position this season, Jonathan Villar, was traded to Toronto on Monday. Chisholm would still have to hold off Jon Berti for playing time at the keystone, as well as Isan Diaz (personal), who is expected to be activated from the restricted list soon after he informed Miami he was opting back into the 2020 season.

Chisholm was recalled by the Marlins on Tuesday and will be available off the bench against the Blue Jays, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Chisholm has yet to play above the Double-A level, he's quite an interesting prospect. He's a very toolsy player, possessing above-average speed and raw power with the potential to play above-average defense at shortstop. There are big question marks surrounding his ability to make enough contact, however, as he's struck out in 32.1 percent of his career minor-league plate appearances. Those issues are unlikely to suddenly go away as he makes the jump to the highest level, so it's quite possible Chisholm has a rough time at the plate initially. Regardless of how he performs down the stretch, he has plenty of long-term upside.

The Marlins aren't expected to promote top prospects like Chisholm to their 30-man roster in the wake of the team's COVID-19 outbreak, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There will be a lot of holes to fill on the roster, but Miami is leaning towards adding players who already have some major-league experience rather than starting the service-time clocks on prospects like Chisholm or Sixto Sanchez. Chisholm will continue working out at the Marlins' alternate training site in Jupiter, Florida, but it seems as though his debut will have to wait until at least 2021.

The Marlins optioned Chisholm to Triple-A Wichita on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chisholm was one of seven players sent to minor-league camp as Miami aims to trim down its roster to 26 men prior to Opening Day. The toolsy shortstop is expected to spend most of the season in the Pacific Coast League, but he should settle into an everyday role with Miami once he eventually receives the call to the big leagues.

Chisholm went 1-for-2 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The fifth-inning blast off Genesis Cabrera was Chisholm's first homer of the spring, and per Statcast it left his bat at a blistering 112 mph. The 22-year-old is the Marlins' No. 1 fantasy prospect and is looking the part in camp, slashing .308/.500/.615 through 18 plate appearances with two steals in two attempts and a 5:4 BB:K. Chisholm will likely begin the season at Triple-A Wichita, but he'll really need to force the issue for the rebuilding Marlins to consider bringing him up before 2021.

Chisholm was added to the Marlins' 40-man roster Wednesday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This protects him from the Rule 5 draft. Chisholm was acquired straight up for Zac Gallen at the trade deadline and gives the Marlins a shot at a superstar shortstop, although he comes with plenty of risk due to some strikeout issues.

Chisholm went 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI for Double-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The 20-year-old had been scuffling in July, slashing .250/.299/.444 through 20 games with a 4:23 BB:K, but Chisholm put together an impressive debut in the Marlins' system after coming over from the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline. He'll need to solve his contact issues, but his athleticism and upside remain apparent -- on the year, he has 19 homers and 13 steals through 90 games at Double-A. If things begin to really click for Chisholm, a 2020 big-league debut isn't out of the question.

Chisholm was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Marlins in exchange for Zac Gallen, Craig Mish of FNTSY Sports Radio reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins will cash out Gallen for a high-risk/high-reward shortstop prospect in Chisholm. He has a .204/.305/.427 slash line with 18 home runs and 13 steals in 89 games at Double-A. That power/speed upside has been on full display, but so have his swing-and-miss issues. He logged a 32.5 percent strikeout rate last year at High-A and has a 33.8 percent strikeout this year as a 21-year-old at Double-A. Chisholm needs to get back to the linedrive-oriented stroke he displayed in the Cal League in 2018, as he has turned into a three-true-outcomes hitter, despite having the tools (elite bat speed) to be much more than that.

Chisholm is opening the year with Double-A Jackson, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Few prospects have done more to help their stock more since last year's All-Star break than Chisholm. While he had success in 36 games at High-A last year, he did strike out 32.5 percent of the time, so expectations should be tempered early on as he adjusts to Southern League pitchers.
