Davis is not in the starting lineup Thursday against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Joe McCarthy draws the start in right field for the season opener Thursday. Davis has been competing for playing time throughout summer camp and could benefit from the universal DH. The right-handed hitting outfielder will likely serve in a platoon role with McCarthy. Clayton Kershaw (back) was scratched from Thursday's start and replaced by Dustin May, which likely had an effect on manager Gabe Kapler's lineup. Davis could easily make his 2020 debut Friday against Alex Wood and the Dodgers.

Davis is doing everything he can during camp to earn a spot in the Giants outfield to begin the 2020 season.
EDGE Analysis
Davis could benefit from the universal DH rule change since outfielders like Hunter Pence and Alex Dickerson could soak up many of those opportunities. This opens the door for the 26-year-old who hit 35 home runs across Double-A and Triple-A last season, slashing a combined .306/.397/.590 in 541 minor-league plate appearances. Davis is also believed to have the ability to play both left field and center field, increasing his stock quite a bit at the big league level.

The Giants could option Davis to the minor leagues to begin the season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis is in competition for a spot in the Giants' outfield, and had an inconsistent performance throughout Cactus League action. On the positive side, he collected five extra-base hits. However, he also struck out in half of his 30 plate appearances. The team has experimented with prospect Mauricio Dubon in center field and also has Billy Hamilton as another option, so Davis may start the season with Triple-A Sacramento until he forces his way onto the big-league roster.

The Giants are motivated to evaluate Davis at the major-league level this year, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is not a lock that he opens the year in the majors, but once he is up, the expectation is that Davis will play a lot for the Giants as they look to evaluate whether he can be a long-term piece. He hit 35 home runs across Double-A and Triple-A last season but stumbled in a cup of coffee with the big-league club. Davis is also very fast, but he does not put his speed to work much on the bases. On the whole, he hit .294 and despite being right-handed, he hit better against righties than lefties, so perhaps he will get everyday at-bats at some point this season.

Davis went 2-for-4 with a home run in Wednesday's win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
After getting called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Sept. 4, Davis launched his first major league homer with style in the form of a ninth inning walk off to give the Giants a 2-1 victory. Across 13 games, Davis is batting just .152/.243/.242, though he holds imminent power potential.

Davis (wrist) is starting at designated hitter and batting seventh Thursday in Boston.
EDGE Analysis
He has not played since Sept. 12 due to the wrist issue. It's a good matchup for the right-handed slugger, as he will face southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez. Davis has big raw power and had a lot of success in the minors this season, but he has yet to get going in seven games against big-league pitching.

Davis (wrist) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, according to Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News.
EDGE Analysis
Davis continues to recover from his bruised wrist and will not start for a fifth straight game. Davis started five straight games before being injured, but it remains to be seen if will play every day when he returns, as fellow outfielder Alex Dickerson is healthy enough to see starts again.

Davis is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Davis suffered a left wrist bruise Thursday after being hit by a pitch and has not seen the field in the last two contests. The 25-year-old will now have Monday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery. Joey Rickard, Mike Yastrzemski and Mike Gerber will start from left to right in the outfield Sunday for the Giants.

Davis (wrist) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
X-rays on Davis' wrist were negative after he was plunked with a 97 mph fastball Thursday, but he's set to miss a second straight start and it would make sense if the Giants held him out again Sunday with an off day looming. Davis has gotten off to a 3-for-21 start to his big-league career after slashing .306/.397/.590 with 35 homers and 10 steals in the minors this season.
