Paxton is not among the Yankees' probable starters for this weekend's series against the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The team currently lists Domingo German, J.A. Happ and Masahiro Tanaka (in that order) for the first series out of the All-Star break. Toronto hasn't gotten to many pitchers this year, but Paxton is an exception (nine earned runs in two starts), and that may have played into the Yankees' decision. Paxton missed most of May with a knee injury and hasn't been quite himself when active this season (4.01 ERA, 1.43 WHIP), with an increased walk rate being the most glaring issue.

Paxton (5-4) struck out 11 while allowing two runs on seven hits and no walks through six innings to take the loss against the Rays on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton allowed hits to the first three batters he faced and surrendered two runs in the first inning, but afterwards he effectively shut down the Rays with a dominant 20 swinging strikes with 15 of which came on his fastball. The left-hander has only allowed three runs and has 14 strikeouts in his last two starts. Paxton continues to have trouble at the beginning of games with a 10.20 ERA in the first inning and a 2.49 ERA in all other frames. The 30-year-old has a 5-4 record with a 4.01 ERA through 15 starts heading into the All-Star break.

Paxton allowed one earned run on eight hits and two walks while striking out three across six innings Tuesday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton surrendered just a solo home run to J.D. Davis across his six innings of work, only his second quality start in seven chances since coming off the injured list on May 29. Despite the outing being positive overall, Paxton was uncharacteristically unable to generate much deception with his pitches, recording just 12 swinging strikes on 103 total pitches. He'll have one more chance to put it all together prior to the All-Star break, drawing the start Sunday at the Rays.

Paxton allowed six runs on eight hits with four walks and three strikeouts across 4.1 innings during an no-decision against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees offense went deep again, but Paxton yielded three long balls as well. Two of his four walks came around to score on those homers. This is the second time in the last four starts that Paxton has yielded six runs. Those outings have raised his ERA more than 1.2 runs. He is 5-3 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 64.1 innings this season. He will look to get back on track at the Rays next Thursday.

Paxton (5-3) earned the win after allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings Friday night against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton turned in a stellar showing, with his long run allowed coming in the fourth inning on an RBI double to right field. He fired 60 of his 100 pitches for strikes on the night, inducing five groundouts compared to three flyouts. The 30-year-old lefty has looked sharp in each of his last two outings, holding the opposition to two or fewer runs while punching out 14 over that stretch.

Paxton (4-3) gave up two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven through six innings, taking the win against the White Sox on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton gave up a solo home run in the first inning but settled down to secure his fourth win with a quality start. The 30-year-old continues to be dominant with 17 swinging strikes in this start and a 14 percent swinging-strike rate this season. Along with his impressive 11.6 K/9, Paxton lowered his ERA to 3.93 through 11 starts. Paxton will look to carry this momentum into his next start Friday against the Astros at Yankee Stadium.

Paxton (3-3) was handed the loss after surrendering six runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings during Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets. He struck out one and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton was booed off the mound at Yankee Stadium as he delivered his worst start of the season. Pete Alonso blasted a three-run homer in the first inning before Paxton recorded an out, which more or less summed up the rest of the evening for the left-hander. The 30-year-old has a 4.04 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 64:20 K:BB through 10 starts and will look for a rebound performance Monday versus the Rays.

Paxton will start Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Masahiro Tanaka will get the ball for Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill, with Paxton starting Game 2. The big southpaw is looking to get back on track after allowing four runs (three earned) across 4.2 innings in his most recent start against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Paxton lasted 4.2 innings against the Blue Jays on Wednesday and allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Paxton threw a first-pitch strike to 18 of the 21 batters he faced Wednesday but struggled to put hitters away. The 30-year-old was limited to 66 pitches in his previous start fresh off the injured list, and he upped his pitch count to 83 versus the Blue Jays. The lefty has a 3.11 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through nine starts and should face the Mets on Monday.

Paxton threw four shutout innings with no hits and two walks allowed while striking out seven in a no-decision against the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start in his return from a knee injury, the Yankees held Paxton to only 66 pitches, which was a real shame because he didn't allow a hit through four frames. He also finished three outs shy of capturing the win. Still, it's great to see Paxton back and clearly, he's completely healthy, as he induced 17 swinging strikes. Overall, Paxton is 3-2 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 59 strikeouts in 41.2 innings this season. His next start is scheduled for Tuesday at the Blue Jays.
