Jones, as expected, was optioned to Triple-A on Friday, the Seattle Times reports.
The Mariners re-tooled their outfield this offseason, leaving Jones with a ticket back to Triple-A. Jones has speed, but that's his only offensive weapon. He changed his swing this spring, lowering his hands at the plate, in hopes of improving his bat speed. His only chance of a callup this season is when injuries hit.

Jones is using a new swing this spring that he hopes will give him more bat speed, the team's official site reports.
Jones lowered his hands at the plate because he thought the ball was jumping on him at times last year. The new approach is faring well, manager Lloyd McClendon said. Jones has eight hits in 30 at-bats (.267) this spring. Jones, whose best asset is speed, doesn't really have a shot at making the roster. The Mariners are stocked in the outfield, and Jones needs more development anyway.

The Mariners recalled Jones from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.
Jones will return to Seattle after being sent down earlier this month. He was the Mariners' regular center fielder for a good portion of the summer, but with Austin Jackson now entrenched in that position, Jones will come off the bench for the big club.

Jones was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma following Sunday's game, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News-Tribune reports.
Jones was with the Mariners primarily for his speed and defensive ability, but wasn't seeing consistent starts with the team. As a result, he was deemed expendable when a roster spot was needed to call up Monday's starter, Roenis Elias. Jones has a good chance of being added in September, as his speed/defense combo could be a helpful late-game addition in close contests as the team hunts for a playoff spot.

Jones was recalled primarily for his defense and ability to steal bases, and won't see much regular playing time with the Mariners, the Tacoma News-Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.
He will be used primarily as a specialist in late-game situations, so owners in standard leagues can ignore him completely at this point.

Jones was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Jones was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 1, but has been recalled and will replace Erasmo Ramirez on the active roster. He hit .296/.362/.443 with Triple-A this season, but wasn't as effective in his major league stint, batting .258/.287/.313 over 79 games with the Mariners this season. He will get another opportunity in the big leagues, but the team now has a more formidable outfield, so Jones' playing time may be sparse.

James Jones went 2-for-6 and swiped his 18th base of the season as the Mariners fell to the Angels in 16 innings on Friday.
The 25-year-old outfielder has done a nice job for the Mariners this season, hitting .288/.318/.352 in his first 67 games. While he won't offer anything in the way of power, his speed makes him a worthwhile addition in most mixed leagues.

James Jones went 3-for-6 with a triple, two RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
A day after going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three stolen bases, Jones once again showed why he's been a staple in the Mariners outfield since being promoted. Jones drove in a run with a single in the second inning before knocking an RBI triple, his fourth triple in 56 games, in the seventh. The speedy outfielder is hitting .295/.325/.365 with 17 steals on the season.

James Jones went 4-for-5 with three steals and two runs scored Monday versus the Astros.
A big game for a guy who had entered the night hitting .267/.282/.297 in 101 at-bats during June. But even with that low OBP, he had stolen nine bases as a fixture at the top of the Mariners lineup. He has a lot left to prove as a major league regular, but for fantasy purposes, he'll be a nice source of steals for however long he stays in the lineup.
