Junis will start Sunday's game against the White Sox, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis has been on the injured list since late July due to a positive COVID-19 test, but he'll be able to make his season debut Sunday after building up his strength at the alternate training site. The right-hander made 31 starts for the Royals last season, posting a 5.24 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 175.1 innings. Assuming all goes well Sunday, Junis should be available in the rotation going forward.

Junis revealed Monday that he'd previously tested positive for coronavirus, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The test result explains why the righty landed on the injured list Monday. He's since been cleared to practice, but his quarantine period earlier in camp means he's behind where he needs to be to contribute right away. It doesn't sound as though his absence will last too long, though, as he'll be ready for game action once he's built up his arm strength. With Junis and Brad Keller each on the road back from COVID-19, Brady Singer, Foster Griffin and Jorge Lopez could all get starts early in the season.

Junis was placed on the 10-day injured list for undisclosed reasons Monday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear when Junis is expected back on the field. With Brad Keller's status also unclear for the start of the regular season, as he wasn't cleared to join the team until Friday after testing positive for COVID-19, the Royals could have a pair of spots open in their rotation to start the year. Brady Singer, Foster Griffin and Jorge Lopez could all be in line to begin the season in starting roles.

Manager Mike Matheny said that Junis (back) "threw the ball well" in his simulated game Sunday, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Junis was forced to miss some time with a minor lower back strain, but he appears to be progressing well in his recovery. Barring any setbacks, the right-hander could return to game action soon, and his availability for Opening Day likely isn't in doubt. Junis has made just one appearance in a game this spring, logging two strikeouts over one scoreless inning.

EDGE Analysis
The Royals are being precautionary with Junis and expect him to throw on the side during the upcoming days. The 27-year-old threw an efficient inning with two strikeouts during his spring debut Thursday and will likely miss very limited time before returning to the bottom half of the Kansas City rotation for the remainder of camp.

Junis (9-14) allowed five earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and two walks across just 2.2 innings of work as he took the loss to the Astros on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Junis has had a rough stretch over his last five starts, allowing at least four earned runs all of them. He was at least able to go somewhat deep in the other outings but Sunday night he got yanked early as the Astros were hitting the ball all over the park. After the game, manager Ned Yost said that he will decide sometime this week if Sunday's start was Junis' last of the year, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports. Yost Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com that the innings may be piling up on the right-hander which could explain for his recent struggles. If Junis does make his next start, he will have another tough test against the high-powered offense of the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

Junis (9-13) took the loss Tuesday, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks over five innings while striking out seven as the Royals fell 7-3 to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander bounced back and delivered three clean innings after serving up a grand slam to Eloy Jimenez in the first inning and a solo shot to Adam Engel in the second, but the Kansas City offense couldn't climb out of the hole. Junis has been tagged for at least four runs in each of his last four starts, and he'll carry a 5.06 ERA and 162:56 K:BB through 172.2 innings into his next outing Sunday, at home against the Astros.
