Solis signed a minor-league contract with the Astros on Friday, Kenny Van Doren of Astros Future reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solis returned from a four-year absence in 2023 following two Tommy John surgeries to hold an 8.46 ERA and 50:37 K:BB over 61.2 frames at Triple-A Sugar Land. He'll turn just 24 later this month even with all the missed time and the Astros still want to see how he develops.

Solis (elbow) is listed among the Astros' available relief options for their split-squad Grapefruit League game Tuesday versus the Marlins, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Solis isn't guaranteed to pitch Tuesday, his inclusion on the lineup card is seemingly a sign that he's finally healthy again after he had failed to log any regular-season action at any level since 2018, when he submitted a 3.55 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 51:32 K:BB across 50.2 innings for Single-A Quad Cities. Since that season, Solis has undergone a pair of Tommy John surgeries, but Kenny Van Doren of KCOU 88.1 FM Columbia notes that the right-hander has been facing live hitters during spring training. Expect Solis to report to Single-A Fayetteville or High-A Asheville to begin the 2023 campaign as he aims to get his career back on track.

Solis (elbow) was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Astros camp, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jaime Melendez and Misael Tamarez also get sent out in this first round of cuts for Houston. Solis, 23, hasn't pitched at any level since all the way back in 2018 due to a pair of Tommy John reconstructive elbow procedures.

Solis (elbow) cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solis was designated for assignment by the Astros on Tuesday, and he'll remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. He hasn't appeared in the minors since 2018 due to a pair of Tommy John surgeries, and he'll likely miss the entire 2022 campaign since he underwent his most recent procedure in June.

The Astros designated Solis (elbow) for assignment Tuesday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solis' spot on the 40-man roster will go to utility man Niko Goodrum, whose one-year contract with the club was finalized in a corresponding move. A 22-year-old right-hander, Solis was once one of the more promising lower-level prospects in the Astros' system, but he hasn't made a minor-league appearance since 2018 after undergoing two Tommy John surgeries. He had his most recent procedure last June and can presumably be ruled out for the entire 2022 campaign.

Solis underwent Tommy John surgery Monday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solis underwent surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow in late April and was expected to be sidelined three months. There apparently also turned out to be damage to the right-hander's UCL, as he underwent Tommy John surgery for the second time in 30 months Monday. Solis will be out through the remainder of 2021 and likely a large chunk of 2021 as he rehabs. The 21-year-old most recently pitched at Low-A Quad City in 2018, posting a 3.55 ERA and 51:32 K:BB across 50.2 innings.

Solis had surgery Friday to remove loose bodies from his elbow and will be out three months, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Solis missed the 2019 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, so this latest procedure couldn't have come at a worse time. Even if he returns around the start of August, he will only have time to make a handful of starts before the end or the minor-league season. Solis has a high ceiling and is already on the 40-man roster, so Houston may look to send him to the Arizona Fall League so that he can log more innings in 2021.

Solis was added to the Astros' 40-man roster Friday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
One of Houston's most talented prospects, Solis missed the 2019 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery but he shouldn't be overlooked in dynasty leagues. Prior to the injury, Solis' fastball projected as a 70-grade pitch and he also has a plus curveball. He could shoot up rankings if he impresses early in 2021, likely at High-A or Double-A.

Solis is recovering from Tommy John surgery, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.
EDGE Analysis
His last appearance was a 3.1-inning relief appearance for Low-A Quad Cities on Aug. 6, 2018, so he likely tore his UCL around that time. He will miss the entire 2019 season before hopefully returning 2020.

Solis will open the year in extended spring training, MLB.com's Jim Callis reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a bit surprising, as Solis mastered three levels of rookie ball last season, finishing the year in the Appalachian League. However, the Astros may simply be holding him back as a way to manage his innings. It's possible he is sent to Low-A before the short-season leagues open this summer, otherwise he will likely open the year in the New York-Penn League.
