Diaz (elbow) is on pace for a return sometime in May, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The young fireballer has been steadily progressing through a throwing regimen over the winter, and now that he's present at Rockies camp, a timetable for his return has finally been revealed. This is a very rough estimation, but given that bullpen coach Darren Holmes stated that Diaz "looks healthy" and that expects the hurler to "come back really strong" is certainly a good sign. The exact date of his 2017 debut should become clearer as he continues on in his Tommy John rehab program.

Diaz (elbow) began a throwing regimen at the Rockies' facilities in the Dominican Republic over the offseason, Nolan Lees of Fansided reports.
EDGE Analysis
The flame-throwing 25-year-old was expected to settle into the Rockies bullpen full-time last season, but he was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL in early March. However, it seems like he's been progressing well through his rehab, and given the timing of his surgery, it's not completely out of the question for Diaz to return to the bullpen in the first month of the season. Not much further is known about his rehab progress beyond the limited throwing program, but things should become clearer as spring training approaches.

Diaz (elbow) has been placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Considering Diaz will miss the entire 2016 campaign after tearing the UCL in his right elbow early in March, it shouldn't come as a surprise the club will open up a 40-man spot by placing him on the 60-day disabled list. Following an impressive stint with the Rockies after being recalled in August of last season (2.37 ERA, 1.16 WHIP), Diaz was expected to compete for a bullpen spot out of spring training. The 24-year-old Venezuelan will now shift his focuses to recovering for a run at the 2017 Rockies bullpen.

Diaz (elbow) will need Tommy John surgery to repair a torn UCL in his right elbow, The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz suffered the injury Saturday and will now miss the entire 2016 campaign. He was previously expected to compete for a spot in the big-league bullpen, having posted a 2.37 ERA and 18:6 K:BB over 19 innings with the Rockies last season. The good news is that Diaz is still only 24 years old and has a fastball that regularly reaches the high-90s.

Diaz's (elbow) outlook to pitch soon following an MRI is "not good," Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
This still isn't an exact diagnosis, but it at least signals this going to be a significant injury. Diaz had previously been competing for a bullpen spot, taking a huge chunk out of his spring training time could land him at Triple-A Albuquerque when he does come back.

Diaz underwent an MRI on his right elbow Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The results of the MRI aren't totally clear just yet, as Diaz noted that the scan showed "something" on his inner forearm near his elbow. The Rockies are expected to provide further information on Diaz's condition Monday, after which a timetable for the reliever's return should be etched out.

Diaz experienced elbow discomfort during his appearance in Saturday's spring game, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The extent of the injury is uncertain. Diaz, who is competing for a bullpen spot this spring, has no known history of elbow issues.

Diaz is competing for an Opening Day bullpen spot this spring, the Rockies' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the offseason acquisitions of Jake McGee, Jason Motte, and Chad Qualls, Diaz is now a long shot to close out games for Colorado. Nevertheless, he could become an important piece in the bridge to the ninth inning, especially if the improvements he made this winter to his changeup give him a useful third offering to keep lefties off balance.

Diaz served up a go-ahead three-run homer to Pedro Alvarez in the eighth inning of Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Diaz took a loss for the first time in his big-league career, but the fact that he was entrusted to protect the Rockies' 4-2 lead in the eighth inning demonstrates just how far he's climbed up the bullpen pecking order since his Aug. 23 call-up. Aside from perhaps Justin Miller, Diaz looks like the Rockies' next best setup man to closer John Axford. The hard-throwing right-hander has supplied a 3.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts over his 15 innings in the big leagues this season.

Diaz picked up his fourth hold after recording a lone out in the eighth inning of Monday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Though Diaz had only modest success at Triple-A Albuquerque this season, the early returns have been encouraging since he joined the Rockies in late August. In nine appearances spanning eight innings, Diaz has recorded a 1.13 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, emerging as one of the more trusted setup options in the Rockies' bullpen.
