Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire said Jones (oblique) felt good after throwing and taking batting practice Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a good sign for Jones being ready by Opening Day, but it would be nice to see the outfielder get some exhibition work first. The Tigers have scrimmages scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday against the Reds, so if Jones is truly healthy, expect him to play in at least one of those games before the regular season gets underway Friday.

Jones (oblique) participated in outfield drills Sunday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is encouraging news as Jones works toward getting right in time for Friday's opener in Cincinnati. If he is not ready, Victor Reyes would likely start in center field with Christin Stewart potentially starting in left field.

Jones (oblique) is not feared to have a serious injury and should be able to return in the next few days, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Woodbery adds that the team is likely just being cautious with its starting center fielder. It sounds like Jones should be ready for Opening Day, though it'd be nice to see him return to intrasquad action first to prove that his oblique is recovered.

Jones was scratched from Wednesday's instrasquad lineup due to left oblique tightness, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old was scheduled to start in center field but instead was a late removal from the lineup. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but Jones' status for the season opener is now up in the air with just over a week until Opening Day.

Jones hit a home run in an intrasquad game Wednesday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has hit 11 home runs in each of the last two seasons, while providing 20 total steals in that time and good defense in center. Plate discipline has been his issue, as he's struck out 30 percent of the time or more in three of his four MLB seasons, and he's yet to bat above .235. Manager Ron Gardenhire sounded optimistic, however, about the 28-year-old taking a step forward in 2020. "His swing is really nice and short," Gardenhire said. "I think if he can stay healthy here - he plays really hard and dives around - he's an impact player for us." Jones is likely to begin the year as the everyday center fielder, but prospects Daz Cameron and Derek Hill are in the 60-man player pool if the team decides to go in a different direction at some point.

Jones is likely to begin the 2020 season batting ninth, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
In Fenech's hypothetical Opening Day roster, Jones batted ninth behind Austin Romine and Victor Reyes, with Cameron Maybin next at the top of the order. Jones showed some signs of improvement in 2019, lowering his K% and batting a career-best .235 with 11 home runs in 88 games. Of course, .235 isn't exactly an elite mark, and without eye-popping speed or power, Jones doesn't project as a particularly valuable fantasy asset, though he should play regularly due to his strong defense in center field.

Jones (calf) will return to action Thursday as expected, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones' injury has sidelined him since Feb. 25, but he is ready to get back on the field and will hit ninth Thursday while manning center field. That's the spot he could fill for the Tigers on Opening Day if he is able to make it through the rest of the spring without a setback.

Jones (calf) was able to run Tuesday and is expected to play Thursday against Atlanta, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones has been dealing with a tight right calf since late February. Assuming he is indeed able to return Thursday, he'll be doing so exactly two weeks before Opening Day. Whether or not that's enough time to get into game shape remains to be seen.

Jones (calf) is not in the lineup for Saturday's spring game against the Twins, according to MLB.com.
EDGE Analysis
Jones was scratched from the Tigers' Feb. 28 spring game because of calf tightness and has not played since. It's not clear where he stands in his recovery, and the Tigers have not said if the injury will affect his status for Opening Day.

Jones is dealing with right calf tightness and was scratched from Friday's Grapefruit League game versus the Blue Jays, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jones was set to bat leadoff and start in center field, but he'll instead take at least a few days off to recovery from the injury. Derek Hill will slot into the lineup in his absence.
