Detroit manager Ron Gardenhire said Jones (oblique) felt good after throwing and taking batting practice Sunday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

This is a good sign for Jones being ready by Opening Day, but it would be nice to see the outfielder get some exhibition work first. The Tigers have scrimmages scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday against the Reds, so if Jones is truly healthy, expect him to play in at least one of those games before the regular season gets underway Friday.
