Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said Monday that the team is hopeful Jobe (elbow) will be ready to pitch in games by September, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Jobe will need to display better control if he wants to unlock another level, however, as his BB/9 climbed up to 5.0 after issuing three free passes in this one. The 22-year-old is set to take the mound again Tuesday against the White Sox, which projects as a favorable matchup.

Jobe (4-1) took the loss against the Guardians on Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out three across five innings.

Both of the runs Jobe yielded came in the first inning. He kept the Guardians off the board over the next four frames and generated 11 whiffs on 89 pitches (53 strikes), but he didn't receive enough run support to avoid the loss, his first of 2025. Jobe has yielded three earned runs or less in eight of nine starts this season and has a 4.06 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 44.1 innings. His next start is tentatively slated for next week at home against the Giants.

Jobe worked through five scoreless frames before Wilyer Abreu popped a solo homer in the sixth inning. It was Jobe's first win since April 18 and a promising rebound performance after allowing six runs against the Rockies in his last outing. He forced 15 whiffs on 100 pitches but he's displaying the command issues that appeared in the minors last season. Jobe has registered a 27:20 K:BB through 33.1 innings in 2025 and has walked at least four batters in three of his seven outings. He'll carry a 4.32 ERA into his next start, which is projected to be in Toronto this weekend.

Jobe allowed six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday.

Jobe was initially slated to start Tuesday, but his outing was pushed back one day due to a rainout. The rookie right-hander got off on the wrong foot against Colorado when Ryan McMahon tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning, and Jobe gave up another two-run shot -- this time to Michael Toglia -- in the third. He was allowed to pitched into the fourth frame but got the hook after giving up another run on two hits in that inning. Jobe hadn't given up more than three runs in a start this season prior to Wednesday, so this was easily his worst appearance of the campaign. He'll look to bounce back in his next trip to the mound, which tentatively lines up to come against Boston next week.

Jobe won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Rockies since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.
