Perkins (shoulder) received a subacromial injection Monday and has no timetable for a return, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins was officially placed on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a strained right shoulder, and the club is still uncertain as to how much time he'll miss. Whether he's able to pitch again this season should become more apparent as he begins to make strides in his recovery.

The Athletics placed Perkins on the 15-day injured list Friday with a strained right shoulder.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins appears to have picked up the injury during Thursday's start against Minnesota, when he yielded two runs over five innings en route to his third win of the campaign. The 25-year-old has a 4.19 ERA in 38.2 innings with the A's this season. Joey Estes was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Perkins' spot on the roster and presumably in the rotation.

Perkins (3-2) earned the win Thursday over the Twins, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins, who joined the A's rotation earlier this month, has won his last three starts while posting a 4.50 ERA with 14 strikeouts in that span (16 innings). Overall, the rookie right-hander sports a 4.19 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP and 37:18 K:BB across 38.2 innings this season. Perkins is currently lined up for a tough home matchup with the Tigers in his next outing.

Perkins (2-2) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings to earn the win over the Angels on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins gave up a two-run home run to Zach Neto in the fifth inning, but the Athletics were able to maintain the lead before turning the game over to the bullpen. This was a fine performance for Perkins, who has now won his last two starts. He has surrendered 10 runs over 14 innings while posting a 16:7 K:BB as a starter after finding success as a multi-inning reliever to begin his big-league career. Overall, he has a passable 4.28 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB through 33.2 innings across 11 appearances. Perkins' next start is projected to be on the road versus the Twins.

Perkins (1-2) earned the win against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins allowed a three-run homer in the first inning but rebounded with five scoreless frames to earn his first career win. The 25-year-old also logged his first major-league quality start, bouncing back after surrendering four runs over three innings in his rotation debut Sunday. He'll carry a 4.08 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB across 28.2 innings into a home matchup with the Angels next weekend.

Perkins is slated to start Saturday's game against the Orioles at Camden Yards.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins posted a 2.75 ERA while working as a reliever in his first eight MLB appearances, before being moved into the rotation this past weekend. In his first career start Sunday, the young righty struck out four over three innings but was tagged for four earned runs on five hits and three walks. The Athletics intend to develop him as a starter, so Perkins should have an extended runway in the rotation even after his inauspicious first start. Perkins tossed a season-high 62 pitches in that loss to the Diamondbacks, so he may have some kind of workload restriction in place for his second start.

Perkins (0-2) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
Making the first start of his career after previously working in a long-relief role, Perkins labored through three frames and needed a season-high 62 pitches to get nine outs. The 25-year-old righty had been effective out of the bullpen, carrying a 2.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 19.2 innings entering Sunday. While the transition to the rotation didn't yield immediate success, Perkins could get another opportunity, as the A's continue to test their depth after the departures of Mason Miller and JP Sears.

Perkins is moving into the Athletics' rotation and will start Sunday versus Arizona, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
When Mason Miller was traded to San Diego at the deadline, many expected Perkins to move into the closer role. Instead, the rookie right-hander will get a look in the rotation, and it sounds like Sunday's start won't be a one-off. Perkins has pitched well for the A's, posting a 2.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 19.2 innings spanning eight appearances, but he hasn't gone more than 3.1 innings or 54 pitches in any outing. With that in mind, Perkins may be on some sort of a pitch count Sunday, though he won't be new to a starting role having mainly worked in that capacity as a minor-leaguer. As far as closer duties, it's unclear how that may shake out -- Michael Kelly could be the lead candidate for save chances, but a closer-by-committee situation is also a possibility.

Perkins allowed one run on one hit with no walks or strikeouts over two innings to notch a save against the Mariners on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins entered in the eighth inning and retired the side in order in that frame. He served up a solo homer to Randy Arozarena in the ninth but didn't give up any additional hits and finished off the win to record his third save. Perkins has been quite effective for the A's since making his big-league debut June 22, posting a 2.75 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB over 19.2 innings spanning eight appearances. Interestingly, manager Mark Kotsay said after Wednesday's contest that closer Mason Miller was unavailable, per Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, despite not dealing with an injury and not having pitched since July 26. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the Athletics and Padres are in discussions on a trade for Miller, and if the fireballing reliever were to be dealt, Perkins could be a candidate to ascend to the closer role.

Perkins collected a hold in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Guardians, striking out three while allowing no hits and one walk over three scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Perkins faced the minimum nine batters during his 31-pitch outing, and he atoned for the walk he issued to Carlos Santana to begin the bottom of the seventh by generating an inning-ending double play. Since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 22, the 25-year-old righty has looked sharp as a long man out of the bullpen, netting a pair of three-inning saves while accruing a 2.84 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB in 12.2 innings. Manager Mark Kotsay has indicated Perkins will make starts for the Athletics before the end of the season, but his usage out of the bullpen Saturday suggests that he won't immediately fill the vacant spot in the club's rotation Tuesday in Texas.
