Wainwright was inefficient but very effective in his Opening Day start Sunday against the Cubs, tossing six scoreless innings surrendering five hits without issuing a walk and striking out six. Wainwright needed 101 pitches to get through six and the Cardinals improved bullpen came in and did the job expected of it, shutting out the Cubs over the final three frames with six more strikeouts and two walks. Wainwright will likely need more help from his bullpen this year and they should deliver more often than not.
