Padres placed OF Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 30, with right knee soreness.
The move was officially made after Friday's game. Quentin has missed over a week due to right knee discomfort and the Padres could no longer afford to keep him on the roster. Since the DL stint is backdated, he has a chance to return Thursday when first eligible.
What's the point? If he is eligible Thursday, why put him on the DL now...for 3 days? I think this is BS. I think if you put a guy on the DL, he should be out for 15 days from that day. None of this backdating BS.
