Doolittle made his 2015 debut on Wednesday, throwing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
The results were good, but Doolittle did not look like the same pitcher on the mound. Doolittle's fastball was topping out at 89 mph on the CSN California radar gun (a far cry from his average fastball velocity of 94 mph in 2014) and he was mixing in more off-speed pitches than usual. He has mentioned that his rehab is still in process and this is still like spring training for him which could be the explanation for the drop on velocity. The velocity is definitely worth monitoring in his next few appearances as he tries to regain his closer role.

Did no one notice his velocity was down before he was called up?
