Suzuki will once again be the Marlins' fourth outfielder in 2017.
EDGE Analysis
The future Hall of Famer reached 3000 hits in MLB last season, but will return to the Marlins' bench for at least one more season after a solid .291/.354/.376 line over 327 at-bats in 2016. Giancarlo Stanton's inability to stay healthy makes Miami's fourth outfielder a more valuable fantasy asset than most other backups, but Suzuki is still only a viable roster option in deep NL-only formats.

Suzuki's 2017 club option was exercised by the Marlins on Wednesday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, the Marlins will bring back the veteran Suzuki, who's owed $2 million next season, for one more year. The soon-to-be-43-year-old appeared in 143 games in 2016, batting .291 with 22 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

EDGE Analysis
After three straight starts in the outfield, Suzuki will get the day off Wednesday, as the Marlins go with Derek Dietrich in left, Christian Yelich in center and Marcell Ozuna in right.

Suzuki is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Suzuki will cede a start despite batting .300 in 11 games since his last day off at the end of August. Jeff Francouer will enter the Miami outfield for the evening in his place.

Suzuki is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Padres, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 42-year-old has been playing close to every day since Giancarlo Stanton hit the DL, but Suzuki will give way to trade acquisition Jeff Francoeur in right field Friday. Suzuki may remain the primary option at the position but he's been in a funk lately (.208/.263/.340 in August) and may move into more of an even timeshare if he doesn't pick it up soon.

Suzuki is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Marcell Ozuna will take over in right field Friday in place of Suzuki, who is getting the day off against Gerrit Cole. Suzuki had started five straight games heading into Friday, going 4-for-17 in that span with one triple and seven strikeouts.

Suzuki went 2-for-4 batting in Thursday's loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder batted fifth in the game after spending time in the sixth position and leadoff spot over the last week. He's taken over as the Marlins' primary right fielder with regular starter Giancarlo Stanton (groin) expected to miss the remainder of the season. Ichiro went hitless in his first two games as a regular but is 4-for-11 with a walk over the past three games and boasts an impressive .313/.384/.387 triple slash over 230 at-bats with nine steals 13 RBI and 32 runs scored. He figures to bat fifth or sixth most games while occasionally spelling Dee Gordon at the top of the order.

Suzuki will be the Marlins' starting right fielder until Giancarlo Stanton returns from the disabled list, Bob Nightengale of the USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although it will hurt the Marlins to be without Stanton's power, Suzuki is a more than capable backup in the midst of a resurgent season. With a .319/.389/.390 line, it's entirely possible that the 42-year-old Suzuki could see a spike in runs scored while Stanton recovers from a groin injury. Suzuki will be batting leadoff Sunday as the Marlins take on Chris Sale and the White Sox.

Suzuki tripled in the seventh inning of Sunday's 10-7 win over the Rockies to collect his 3,000th MLB hit.
EDGE Analysis
Ichiro became the 30th player in MLB history to reach the milestone and has done so while enjoying a productive season as the Marlins' fourth outfielder at the age of 42. On the year, he's put together a solid .317/.390/.380 triple slash with 31 runs scored and nine steals over 205 at-bats.
