Ryu (forearm) will start the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Orioles, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu was removed from Monday's start against the Yankees due to left forearm soreness, but he won't be forced to miss his next turn through the rotation. The southpaw threw 80 pitches prior to Monday's early departure and is unlikely to be on a pitch count in Saturday's matinee.

Ryu (13-8) picked up the win Monday against the Yankees after firing six scoreless innings, though he was pulled after only 80 pitches due to left forearm soreness, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. He had six strikeouts while allowing three hits and zero walks.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu apparently had the issue crop up while throwing some sliders, but it appears to be a minor concern. The southpaw said after the contest that he doesn't expect to visit a doctor for a checkup on the injury, but he'll still be considered day-to-day until his next turn through the rotation comes up. Ryu is tentatively scheduled to start one half of Saturday's doubleheader at Baltimore, as long as he has no issues during his bullpen session later this week.

Ryu (12-6) picked up the win Saturday, allowing five hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 victory over the Tigers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw tossed 70 of 105 pitches for strikes in a masterful performance, and Ryu let only one Detroit baserunner even get into scoring position en route to his 12th quality start of the year. This was exactly what he needed after coughing up 11 runs in 10 innings over his prior two outings, and Ryu will take a 3.54 ERA and 111:29 K:BB through 140 innings into his next start.

Ryu didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Boston after allowing seven runs on 10 hits and a walk across 3.2 innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu had one of his worst outings of the year Sunday and was happy to escape with the no-decision, as the seven runs allowed represented a season-worst mark for him while also tying season-worst marks in both innings pitches and hits allowed. Ryu now has a 4.14 ERA since the beginning of July, though that might be the case of two subpar outings rather than being consistently below average over that span.

Ryu (11-5) allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out eight through seven stellar innings, getting the win in Tuesday's 7-2 victory over Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
After making 32 starts with the Blue Jays during their nomadic adventures of 2020 and 2021, Ryu didn't disappoint when he finally got a chance to show Toronto what he's all about. In his first start at Rogers Centre as a Blue Jay, the southpaw made quick work of Cleveland, rattling off four 1-2-3 innings. He also posted a season-high eight strikeouts and did not walk a batter for a second consecutive start. He'll get another chance to pitch in front of the home fans Sunday against Boston.

Ryu (10-5) pitched six scoreless innings in Thursday's win over Boston, holding the Red Sox to just two hits while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu stranded a pair of runners in the first inning -- one of which had reached on an error -- and was simply masterful the rest of the way. After an inconsistent stretch that spanned most of June and into early July, Ryu appears to have righted the ship with a 1.62 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB over his last four starts. Just as importantly, he hasn't allowed a single home run during that stretch after being touched up for eight long balls in his previous six starts. Ryu's is tentatively lined up to make his next start at home next week against Cleveland.

However, he was pulled with one out in the fifth frame after surrendering five straight hits. It was just the third start that he failed to pitch at least five innings. The 34-year-old has a 3.44 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in 110 innings. His next start is scheduled for Thursday in Boston.
