Iribarren played every position but pitcher last season, however, so he at least offers organizational depth all over the diamond for Cincinnati in case injuries strike the big-league club.

After spending six straight seasons at the Triple-A level, Iribarren surfaced in the big leagues with the Reds in the second half of 2016, but was never considered part of the club's long-term plans and was outrighted from the roster shortly after the season. He re-signed with the team on a minor-league deal in the offseason and will continue to function as organizational infield depth. Iribarren should play regularly with Triple-A Louisville, but given his standing as a non-roster player, it may take a number of injuries to the infield ranks before he receives another look from the Reds.

He's spent the seven seasons since at the Triple-A level -- four in the Pacific Coast League, and the three most recent with Louisville in the International league. The 32-year-old has played in more than 1,250 minor league games, and although he is well past the prospect stage, the Reds will use him as an extra left-handed bat off the bench.

Rockies re-signed INF Hernan Iribarren to a minor league contract. Iribarren batted .302/.368/.378 with 20 stolen bases in 111 games this past summer for Triple-A Colorado Springs. Perhaps he'll get a shot with the Rox in 2013.
