With lefty Ranger Suarez on the hill for Philadelphia, Castro will start the game on the bench. Alan Trejo will start at second base and hit eighth.

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty-hitting Castro will head to the bench for the series finale while Pittsburgh brings southpaw Rich Hill to the mound. Platoon mate Alan Trejo will step in for Castro at second base.

Castro went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk Tuesday against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Castro started at second base for the sixth time in the last nine games, sending Alan Trejo to the bench. He's hit well in that span by collecting eight hits in 20 at-bats while also tallying four RBI and four runs scored. Unless the Rockies opt to move Ryan McMahon back to second base, there aren't many obvious options to move Castro out of the lineup, so he could see regular at-bats moving forward.

Castro is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Patrick Lyons of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Castro appears to have overtaken Alan Trejo as the Rockies' top second baseman, as the former had started at the position in four of the previous six contests. However, the lefty-hitting Castro will give way to the rigthy-hitting Trejo on Sunday while the Rockies oppose a southpaw (Joey Lucchesi). Castro, who has gone 7-for-14 with two doubles, two walks, four runs and four RBI over his last five games, looks as though he could occupy the large side of a platoon moving forward.

Castro went 1-for-5 with a run scored Thursday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Castro was in camp as a non-roster invitee but ultimately earned a spot on the Opening Day roster and started in left field while hitting eighth in Colorado's first game. Once Jurickson Profar gets ramped up and Randal Grichuk (groin) is able to return, Castro will find playing time harder to come by, though he could get some run during the early portions of the season.

Castro had his contract selected from Triple-A Albuquerque by the Rockies on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Castro will be a part of the Opening Day roster after signing a minor-league contract in January with an invite to MLB spring training. The infielder will likely spell starters all around the infield, and he could see some playing time in the outfield as well. Castro will help the Rockies in 2023, but he is unlikely to help much in fantasy formats even if he gets regular playing time.

Castro went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two RBI in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Castro started the Rockies' first spring training game at second base and led off. He doubled to begin the contest and added a two-run triple one frame later. Castro is with Colorado on a minor-league deal, though his defensive versatility could help him win a roster spot to begin the campaign.

Castro signed with Colorado as a non-roster invitee Saturday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of El Extrabase reports.
EDGE Analysis
Any hitter who has the opportunity to earn playing time at Coors Field is worth a second look, and that's true for Castro even with the caveat that he's yet to earn a roster spot, let alone regular at-bats. He doesn't hit for much power, homering 15 times in 351 career games, but his .284/.309/.377 lifetime slash line is fine for a utility infielder. A starting role in Colorado may not be on the table, but a good spring could earn him a bench spot, putting him one injury away from consistent playing time.

The Tigers declined to tender Castro a contract for 2023.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit clearly didn't see a future with Castro in the organization -- not too hard to understand given he's had one season with an OPS above .690. Castro is unlikely to land a regular role in free agency, but his decent bat-to-ball skills and defensive versatility may land him in camp with a big-league squad as a non-roster invitee.

Castro is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
After holding down a regular spot in the lineup for much of the second half of the season, Castro will end up sitting out for a second straight contest as Detroit wraps up the 2022 campaign. Even on a rebuilding squad like the Tigers, the 28-year-old is probably still ideally suited for a utility role. He provided a strong .271 batting average over his 443 plate appearances this season, but a low walk rate (3.9 percent) and lack of power (.110 ISO) or speed (no stolen bases) limited his usefulness.
