Cole (14-5) allowed two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out nine to pick up the win against Detroit on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Cole labored in this one, throwing first-pitch strikes to just 13 of 23 batters, needing 99 pitches to get his five innings. He expended 50 of those pitches in the second and third innings. He hung in long enough for Houston's bats to give him a lead when he left, enabling him to claim his third win in the last four starts. He's next scheduled to pitch Tuesday at home against the Mariners.

Cole will make his next start Monday against the Athletics, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cole started the first of the Astros' six games this week Monday in Seattle, giving up three runs (two earned) and striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision. The right-hander looked like he would be in line to make his second start of the week Sunday against the Angels, but manager A.J. Hinch elected to push Cole back an additional day for rest purposes. The Astros appear set to go with another "bullpen game" Sunday, which could feature Brad Peacock as the team's opening pitcher.

Cole (10-5) allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over 7.1 innings in Friday's loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The loss was Cole's third straight, as he fell victim to Houston's inconsistent offense. Normally this team is one of the most potent in the majors; however, since the All-Star break the Astros' .228 batting average ranks 27th and their 77 runs scored are tied for 26th. Injuries have played a role in that: Carlos Correa just returned from a back injury while Jose Altuve (knee) and George Springer (thumb) remain on the disabled list. Cole and the other starters have suffered declining support. In Cole's last three starts, spanning 18 innings, he's received four runs of support. Cole will look to break his three-start losing streak Wednesday at home against the Rockies.

Cole allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out nine over 6.1 innings Tuesday against the Rockies. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Cole was in cruise control through six innings, but he allowed two runs on a pair of doubles and a single in the bottom of the seventh to take away any chance at his 11th win. He's now struck out at least seven batters in four straight starts, and Tuesday was the first time in nine tries without yielding multiple walks. He'll take a 2.54 ERA and dominant 12.4 K/9 into his next outing Monday in Seattle.

Cole (10-2) picked up the win in Saturday's 9-1 romp over the Tigers, allowing one run on three hits and four walks over 5.2 innings while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander wasn't at his sharpest after being reinstated from the bereavement list earlier in the day, but the Astros' offense gave Cole more than enough run support to offset his control issues. He's now walked multiple batters in eight straight outings, a somewhat worrying trend, but it won't stop Cole from heading into the All-Star break with a 2.52 ERA and 177:45 K:BB through 20 starts and 128.1 innings.

Cole (personal) was reinstated from the bereavement list prior to Saturday's outing against Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Cole will take the hill after missing four games while on the bereavement list. He'll make his 20th start of the season against the Tigers prior to the All-Star break. Cole has put together a stellar first half, as he sports a 2.57 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with an outstanding 169:41 K:BB over 122.2 innings.

Cole (bereavement) will take the mound against Detroit on Saturday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cole will make one more start before the All-Star break after being placed on the bereavement list prior to Tuesday's game. This outing will come on normal rest for the 27-year-old after he struck out 11 during a no-decision versus the Athletics on Monday.

Cole was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Players on the bereavement list must miss between three and seven games. Cole isn't scheduled to pitch again until Saturday, so it's likely that he won't end up missing a start, though it's possible he misses one and returns after the All-Star break. Jake Marisnick was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Cole allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Cole induced 19 swinging strikes, but it was otherwise not his sharpest outing. In addition to the season-high eight hits (including a home run and two doubles), the 27-year-old also hit a batter and threw a wild pitch en route to falling in a 4-0 hole in the third inning before the Houston offense picked him up. Cole is still enjoying a very successful first season with the Astros, but he's starting to fall back a bit from the ridiculous pace he was working at through the first two months. He's now allowed at least four runs three times in five starts and has walked 15 over 29 innings in that span. He'll take a 2.70 ERA and 158:38 K:BB through 116.2 innings into Monday's start against the Athletics.

Cole (9-1) struck out eight over five one-run innings to earn the win Sunday against the Royals, allowing two hits and three walks along the way.
EDGE Analysis
Cole limited baserunners to great effect, with the only run against him coming on a solo home run from Lucas Duda in the fourth inning. The visitors fouled off a whopping 27 pitches to help push up his pitch count, which ultimately caused his removal after recording just 15 outs. Despite the relatively short outing, Cole bounced back nicely after allowing four earned runs in each of his last two starts. He'll take a shiny 2.59 ERA into his next scheduled start Friday against the Rays.
