Royals released LHP George Sherrill. Sherrill posted a 6.23 ERA over 21 appearances at Triple-A Omaha in his first action back from Tommy John surgery. He struck out 30 over 21 2/3 innings, though, and seems likely to draw interest elsewhere.

Royals re-signed LHP George Sherrill to a minor league contract. The Royals released Sherrill on Tuesday rather than pay him a $100,000 retention bonus, but they were expected to attempt to bring him back. The 35-year-old southpaw is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and is unlikely to pitch in games until around May.

Royals released LHP George Sherrill. Sherill didn't pitch in a game this spring, as he's still in recovery mode from Tommy John surgery last May. There's a chance the Royals could bring him back.

The Royals believe George Sherrill (elbow) could be ready to pitch in games by late April. Sherrill, who had Tommy John surgery last May, threw "free and easy" during a workout Friday. The veteran left-hander signed a minor league deal in December but is virtually assured of a roster spot as long as he doesn't experience a setback.

Royals signed LHP George Sherrill to a minor league contract. The deal includes a spring training invite. Sherrill had Tommy John surgery this past May and might not be ready for the start of the 2013 season. But there's enough upside to take a shot.

Mariners transferred LHP George Sherrill from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It's a procedural move in order to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Stephen Pryor. Sherrill will miss the rest of the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The Seattle Times' Geoff Baker reports George Sherrill (elbow) is expected to undergo surgery in May and is likely out for the season. Sherrill hasn't pitched since the Mariners' Opening Day series in Japan, but his injury woes date back to last season. The Mariners will go with Charlie Furbush and Lucas Luetke for left-handed relief in the short-term. An official timetable for Sherrill won't be established until after the surgery.

George Sherrill had an MRI taken on his left elbow Saturday and is awaiting the results. Sherrill and the Mariners should have some news to pass along in the next day or two. As of now, there is no definitive timetable for the lefty's return to the M's 'pen.

Mariners placed LHP George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 10, with a strained flexor bundle in his left elbow. It sounds like Sherrill's elbow problems from late last year have crossed over to the start of the 2012 season. The 34-year-old southpaw has allowed four runs on six hits over his first 1 1/3 innings this season. The timeline for his return isn't yet known.

George Sherrill (elbow) will make his spring debut Monday. A sore elbow has held him back thus far in camp. Hishashi Iwakuma will start Monday against the Padres, with Sherrill following him. "I'm eager to get in there and see how it holds up, facing somebody besides our own guys," Sherrill said. "But at the same time, I need to be smart and make sure I'm hot and warm and not trying to throw a million mph."
