Brown cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Salt Lake, the Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin reports.
Other than offering elite speed and good defense, Brown does not bring much to the table. Should the Angels make the postseason, he could play a Jarrod Dyson/Terrance Gore type of role off the bench, but it will be difficult for him to ever seen enough at-bats in the regular season to be worth much in fantasy.

The Angels claimed Brown off waivers from the Cardinals on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Brown was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Tuesday, and it didn't take long for another club to snatch him up. In nine games at Triple-A Memphis this season, the 26-year-old hit .160/.192/.160 with one RBI and one run. He'll provide the Angels with organizational depth, but could find himself in the majors should an injury occur in the Angels' outfield.

The Cardinals designated Brown for assignment Tuesday, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports.
Brown was taken off the 40-man roster to open a spot for pitcher Mitch Harris, who was promoted to the majors. Brown's next step will be uncertain until the waiver process has run its course.

Brown was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
Brown was considered one of the best prospects in baseball as recently as 2012, but two average at-best seasons at the Triple-A level caused his prospect star to fade, and a rough spring that saw him go just 6-of-39 (.154) at the plate landed him on the waiver wire, and eventually in St. Louis. He will get a fresh start with the Cardinals, but if he makes the Opening Day roster he figures to be no better than the team's fifth outfielder.

Brown was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
With Brown struggling to a .154/.250/.256 batting line in 44 plate appearances with the major league team this spring, it seems the Giants finally came to terms with the former first-round pick (24th in 2010) not panning out. Justin Maxwell took Brown's place on the 40-man roster. Brown has speed but his instincts on the basepaths aren't great (36-for-56 in stolen base attempts last year), and he's combined to hit just .250/.307/.384 in parts of two seasons at Triple-A.

Brown was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
Brown slashed just .158/.256/.263 over 38 spring at-bats, and couldn't quite make the cut for a reserve outfield spot in the big leagues. He'll provide organizational depth at the minor league level.

Brown will be recalled by the Giants on Tuesday.
Brown will provide the Giants with outfield depth as they attempt to lock up a spot in the postseason. The former first-round pick is known for his speed and defensive prowess, so he could prove to be a valuable bench player down the stretch. Brown hit .271 with 36 steals in the minors this season.

Giants prospect outfielder Gary Brown went 3-for-6 on Friday for Triple-A Fresno, and is now hitting .281/.350/.413 for the season.
This game was his fourth game with two-plus hits in his past six games, and he is hitting .333/.375/.533 over that time. Brown is unlikely to get a promotion to San Francisco without an injury, but he plays a great center field and, if he's able to hit .280 with some power, could be a starting center fielder for many teams in the major leagues. He is no longer the prospect he was in 2011 and 2012, but he could be a very useful player.

Giants outfield prospect Gary Brown is hitting .317/.356/.561 through nine games for Triple-A Fresno.
It seems like just yesterday that the Giants refused to include him in the trade to the Mets for Carlos Beltran, trading Zack Wheeler instead. Since the end of 2011, Brown has struggled, hitting .279/.347/.385 for Double-A Richmond in 2012 and .231/.286/.375 for Triple-A Fresno in 2013. Brown seems to have taken a step forward in 2013, as six of his 13 hits have gone for extra bases. He is unlikely to see time in San Francisco without an injury, but if he keeps up this level of production he could be a tempting mid-season promotion.
