A's released LHP Garrett Olson. The 29-year-old has been granted permission to sign with a team in the KBO. Olson was signed by the A's in November after making one appearance with the Mets in 2012.

The 29-year-old southpaw posted a 4.63 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 107/53 K/BB ratio over 122 1/3 innings between the rotation and bullpen for Triple-A Buffalo in 2012. He'll add organizational depth and attempt to make the A's roster as a left-handed reliever.

Garrett Olson said Monday morning that the hand bruise he suffered Sunday was "minimal." In other words, there's nothing to worry about. Olson seems likely to make the Mets' Opening Day roster as a left-handed relief specialist, edging out Josh Edgin.

Garrett Olson was struck in the left hand by a comebacker during a Double-A game Sunday. X-rays were negative. Adam Rubin of ESPN New York wrote: "Josh Edgin default Opening Day lefty specialist?" If Olson and Tim Byrdak (knee), are not healthy enough to begin the regular season, he may be.
