The Twins optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez was one of nine players sent out of big-league camp in the Twins' latest round of roster cuts. Minnesota added the 22-year-old outfielder to the 40-man roster this offseason after he slashed .329/.395/.513 with 15 home runs and eight steals across stops with High-A Cedar Rapids, Double-A Wichita and St. Paul. Gonzalez is likely on track to make his MLB debut at some point in 2026, and his bat will be the key to him gaining a long-term foothold in the Minnesota lineup. He's a below-average defender who was moved off center field early in his minor-league career and is limited to a corner spot or designated hitter.

Gonzalez hit .286/.400/.389 with two home runs and four steals in 32 games to close out the season after being promoted to Single-A Modesto.
EDGE Analysis
It's a bit of an empty batting line, as his pop didn't translate in this initial exposure to A ball, but Gonzalez showed terrific on-base skills nonetheless. Just 18 years old, he's a long way from the big leagues, but he'll be able to accelerate his timeline if he can show more power in game action next year. He'll presumably open 2023 back in Single-A.

Gonzalez was promoted to Single-A Modesto on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 18-year-old outfielder is now Seattle's top prospect following the blockbuster trade to acquire Luis Castillo. Gonzalez hit .357/.421/.548 with five home runs, five steals, a 15.0 K% and a 5.7 BB% in 35 games in the Arizona Complex League. He was also excellent last year as a 17-year-old in the Dominican Summer League (141 wRC+).
