The Guardians optioned Arias to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being acquired from the Padres in August 2020, Arias made his debut for his new organization in 2021, spending the entire season with Columbus. Over his 483 plate appearances, Arias produced a respectable .802 OPS, but the Guardians will send him back to Columbus to begin 2022 for further refinement. Assuming his performance doesn't dramatically regress from a season ago, the 22-year-old should get the chance to make his big-league debut later in the campaign for a rebuilding Cleveland club that could be in evaluation mode in the second half.

Arias was added to Cleveland's 40-man roster Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Arias was traded from San Diego to Cleveland at the end of August last year, and he'll unsurprisingly join the 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. The 20-year-old flashed his power at the High-A level in 2019, hitting .302 with 17 home runs and 75 RBI.

Arias was traded from San Diego to Cleveland on Monday along with Josh Naylor, Cal Quantrill and others in exchange for Mike Clevinger, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arias, a strong defensive shortstop with plus raw power, was one of the Padres' 10 best prospects. He logged a 120 wRC+ as the second-youngest player in the California League last year despite walking at just a 4.9 percent clip. Arias also finished the 2019 season strong, cutting his strikeout rate to 20.6 percent from July 1 on. He joins a loaded Cleveland farm system and could factor into the shortstop depth chart in 2022.

Arias will be part of the Padres' 60-man summer camp.
EDGE Analysis
Like the majority of the Padres' top prospects, Arias was included in the player pool for developmental purposes rather than to help the big-league club win in 2020. He is a great defensive shortstop and has impressive power for his age (20), but he could stand to improve his plate discipline (4.9 percent walk rate, 25 percent strikeout rate at High-A) before reaching the majors.

Arias is expected to be added to the Padres' 40-man roster following the 2020 season, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arias is likely to open the campaign at the Double-A level after slashing .302/.339/.470 with High-A Lake Elsinore last season. His age (he recently turned 20) and strong defense add to his attractiveness as a prospect, so the Padres will likely find a place for him on the 40-man roster during the next offseason as long as he continues on his current trajectory and is not traded elsewhere. While Arias has the range and plus-plus arm to excel at shortstop, Fernando Tatis seems to have locked down that position in San Diego for the foreseeable future.

Arias was returned to minor-league camp Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arias went 4-for-13 with three walks in Cactus League play, but he'll return to the minors to get more seasoning. The 20-year-old will likely open the season at the Double-A level after hitting .302 with 17 home runs with High-A Lake Elsinore last season.

Arias was added to San Diego's major-league spring training camp as a non-roster invitee.
EDGE Analysis
The soon-to-be 20-year-old will get a chance to train alongside big leaguers following a breakthrough 2019 campaign during which he hit .302 and slugged 17 home runs with High-A Lake Elsinore. Arias is likely to spend the entire regular season in the minors, but he could see time with the big club as soon as 2021 if he can improve his plate discipline and continue to impress defensively.

Arias went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs for High-A Lake Elsinore on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old checked in with the first multi-homer day of his professional career to bring his long ball total on the season up to seven through 193 at-bats for the Storm. Arias is known for his sharp defense more than his bat, but the seven homers represent a new career high, and he's also now working on a nine-game hitting streak that has boosted his slash line up to .269/.420/.420.

Arias will begin the 2019 season at High-A Lake Elsinore, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Arias will advance another rung on the minor-league ladder after playing exclusively at Low-A Fort Wayne in 2018. While Arias' .654 OPS and 29.6 percent strikeout rate over 504 plate appearances wasn't anything to write home about, his numbers were far more impressive after considering that he was the youngest full-time player in the Midwest League.

Arias will open the year with Low-A Fort Wayne as the third youngest player in the Midwest League, Bill Center of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The advanced shortstop played 16 games with the TinCaps last year, hitting .242 with a 16:2 K:BB, so he will predictably take another crack at the level. Arias doesn't have any impressive offensive production to point to stateside, but he hit .271/.310/.486 with five home runs and a stolen base in 107 at-bats in the Australian Baseball League this past winter. He has good size (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) and could grow into being a power-hitting shortstop.
