Cleveland Guardians shortstop Gabriel Arias (hand) underwent surgery on his right hand on Thursday. The 22-year-old fractured the fifth metacarpal on his right hand this past Sunday. Following the surgery, he is expected to return to action in six-to-eight weeks. Arias was hitting .197/.269/.380 over 17 games at Triple-A prior to the injury. He made his MLB debut with the Guardians this year, but only played in two games before being sent down.

The top-100 prospect hit .284/.348/.454 with 13 home runs and five stolen bases in Triple-A last season. This is likely only a one day call-up due to the fact it's a doubleheader.
